You can request a site for your Department or Organization by following these steps:

1. Visit http://sites.umbc.edu
2. Click the Create a Ticket button on the right-hand side of the page
3. In the Subject field, type "Requesting a new site in sites.umbc.edu"
4. In the Issue Description, include the following information:
   1. The Website URL you want to use for your site (Must be a UMBC sub-domain, for example http://example.umbc.edu and not http://umbc.edu/example or not http://example.com)
   2. The name of the Department / Organization the site is for
   3. The full name and UMBC campus ID of the primary person responsible for this site
   4. The full name and UMBC campus ID of any additional people who need administrative access to edit the site

Color, black & white and duplex printing are available in all computer labs in the Engineering building. Color printing is 70 cents per page and black & white is 10 cents per page.

All printing charges are handled through the campus Pay for Print Management System (Pharos). Use your UMBC red Campus card to pay for printing.

The labs below can be reserved for classes (either on an ad hoc basis or for the whole semester) on a first-come, first-served basis by submitting an RT Ticket to the Office of the Registrar.  For all other events in these rooms, please contact UMBC Events at their website (http://events.umbc.edu) or by E-mail at schedule@umbc.edu.

Please read this information if you need to have software installed in the lab for your event.  There is a minimum lead time of approximately 6 weeks needed for software installation.

*Scheduling is on a case-by-case basis

1. Verify that the software you need is listed in the lab image inventory. 
   1. Click here to see the list of software installed on the PC labs
   2. Click here to see the list of software installed on the Mac labs
   3. Click here to see the list of software installed on the Linux labs
      
      
2. Go to the computer lab where your class will be held and check if the software you need is installed on the machines
   
   
3. If the software  is NOT currently installed,  please enter an RT ticket to request your software (see deadlines above for each semester)
   
   
4. For ALL software requests, please submit a copy of the software and the following documents to DoIT for review:

• Licensing documents such as End User License Agreements (EULA)
• Technical support documents with technical requirements (including specific version of software requested), and installation and configuration instructions
• Testing script for assessing correct installation and configuration of software
• Provide documentation showing the number of licenses purchased and any additional installation codes or instructions provided by the vendor

Before purchasing software:

• 1. Read the license agreement and verify the software permits network installation
  2. Have license reviewed by University Counsel
  3. Read the user documentation
  4. Submit as above
     
     

Be prepared to test your software upon notification by DoIT.   It is the responsibility of the individual faculty member to check that the software is functioning as requested in the reserved computer lab prior to the start of their class.

1. Launch the secured iTunes U section of your course through your Blackboard course
2. Click the UPLOAD AND MANAGE FILES button in the upper right side of the page. This will open up a new window that will show your current tracks that have already been uploaded and will look similar to the following
3. Select the appropriate tab that contains the tracks you want to rearrange
4. Use the up and down arrow icons to move the tracks to be in the order you want
5. You may continue moving tracks by using the up and down arrows to the right of each appropriate track
6. When you are done changing the order of your tracks, click the DONE button in the bottom right of the window
7. If you are finished modifying your iTunes U page, click the LOGOUT button

1. Open TurningPoint Anywhere
   
2. In the Launchpad, select the Participants in the create and manage section
3. Click Import an LMS list. This will open the LMS Integration Assistant and guide you through the process of obtaining your participant list from Blackboard
   
4. Select Blackboard from the Management System dropdown list. The Server URL is blackboard.umbc.edu
5. Click Continue
6. Type in the User Name and Password you use to access Blackboard. This is the same as your UMBC email or myUMBC account
7. Click Continue
8. Re-enter your myUMBC username and password when prompted in the UMBC WebAuth screen
9. Click Login and wait until you can see that you are logged in to Blackboard
   
10. Click Continue
11. Select Import Participant Lists and click Continue
12. Select the course you wish to import from the list of all of your Blackboard courses
    • A Save As dialog box will open. Navigate to the location where you want to save your participant list(s). In most cases, this will be your thumb drive/USB drive

    • Click Save to save your participant list

      NOTE: The name of the participant list file includes a time/date stamp indicating when the file was saved. This is useful when saving multiple versions of the same course list (in the event that students add/drop a course, for instance).

    • Click OK to close the TurningPoint Anywhere dialog box indicating your participant list has been successfully imported
13. To load a participant list in a session select the list from the dropdown box in the TurningPoint Anywhere Participant List pane.  On a PC the Participant List pane  is located under the Main Menu.  On a Mac the Participant List pane is accessed via the ribbon bar at the top of your screen.

There are many ways instructors can use the clicker technology. PowerPoint is only one example of integrated tools.

1. During lecture, your teacher poses a question within a PowerPoint slide in front of the classroom
2. Use your clicker to respond with your own answer. Keypad displays solid green for 3 seconds when response is received as verification for a clear, visual confirmation that your response has been received and recorded
3. Your response is sent to a wireless receiver, collected and then sent to the classroom computer
4. Within seconds, you’ll see the entire class results on the PowerPoint slide in front of the room

Pay attention to the round light on your clicker for feedback.

• A green light, that means your answer was successfully received.
• A red light means your answer was NOT received.
• A yellow light (blinking multiple times) means your response is sending.
• A blinking orange light while polling is open means you need to reset the channel.
• If the clicker light is very faint or weak and you cannot reset the channel, you may need to change the batteries. Get new batteries from the location where you purchased your clicker.
