If your instructor is using WebAssign, then there should be a link somewhere in your course, but the precise location is up to the instructor. Some courses have a Tools or Communications link on the main course menu, going to a page containing a set of course tools including WebAssign. Others may place a link to WebAssign in a content area of the coursesite, or even as a link directly on the main menu.

If you can't find the link in your course, ask your instructor.

Go to the new course, where you want the content to appear

1. In the Control Panel, click Packages and Utilities and Import Package/View Logs
2. Click Import Package
3. Browse your desktop for the course export ZIP file
4. Select the components to import (include settings - you may have duplicate buttons for the standard buttons but you will see the empty box icon and you can delete them)
5. Click Submit

When the import process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.

When "opt in" discussion board subscription is enabled, Blackboard sends out email alerts if there are new posts or replies. The instructor decides whether the subscription email contains the entire message or a link to the message.

Subscriptions to forums or threads can be enabled when the forum is first created or when the forum settings are edited.

1. To enable subscription in a forum that already exists, click on the chevrons to the right of the forum name.
2. Select Edit
3. Under #3. Forum Settings, select the Subscribe options to allow users to subscribe to the entire forum, or to individual threads.
4. Click Submit
5. The same options are also available when you first create a forum.

1. Navigate to Control Panel at the bottom of the sidebar on the left.
2. Select Packages and Utilities and then Export/Archive Course.
3. Click the appropriate button (Export or Archive), and then choose the sections you wish to include (selecting settings is recommended).  If you want to transfer material to another course, choose Export. If you want to preserve an exact replica of your course, including student enrollment and work, choose Archive. Please be aware that only DoIT system administrators can "restore" an archived course on the UMBC Blackboard production server.
4. Submit the form. Look for a message in a green bar at the top of the page saying that the action has been queued.
5. Check your email for a message from Blackboard that the process has been completed
6. Navigate back to Control Panel > Packages and Utilities > Export/Archive Course
7. Click the link to download the zip file to your local computer.

1. Copy Local Mail to UMBC Webmail Servers
   Some users may have mail stored locally on their desktop hard drive. If you have mail stored locally this you should copy this mail up to the mail severs. This will allow our migration scripts to copy all of your mail to Gmail. If you are not sure, don't worry about it, it can be moved to Gmail later.
2. Begin the Migration
   Click the link above. This launches UMBC's migration script to begin copying your UMBC Webmail email to the new UMBC Gmail environment.
3. Change Your UMBC Password

   You will need to change your password if you access your mail from your phone or desktop mail client!

   Enable Mobile Device, IMAP and POP support by changing your UMBC password. If you won't be using a mobile device or a mail client(e.g.Outlook, Thunderbird, MacMail) then you don't need to change your UMBC password right now.

4. Configure Your Gmail Web Client
   There are a few things you need to change on your Gmail Web client at gmail.umbc.edu
   

   • Turn OFF Conversation Threading (this provides a more traditional mail interface with mail messages viewed separately versus threading)
   • Turn ON IMAP and POP support This allows you to use a desktop mail client (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail)Copy Your Local Address Book to Google Contacts
5. It is important that you copy your contacts to Google contacts. Once copied Google makes these contacts available from the cloud to (Mobile devices, Gmail Web Interfaces and the Outlook Mail Client).
6. Setup Desktop Mail Client
   Some users may not want to jump right in to using the Gmail Web Interface. Click the link above to see documentation on setting up your client.
7. Login to Google at UMBC
   
   • UMBC Google Mail             gmail.umbc.edu
   • UMBC Google Calendar      gcal.umbc.edu
   • UMBC Google Docs           gdocs.umbc.edu
   • Mail Client If you opted to setup a desktop mail client you should launch that (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, MacMail)
