          <strong>DEADLINE TO APPLY EXTENDED </strong>to Friday, December 14th<br>
          <br>
          The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship
          Innovation and Social Change prepares UMBC students for the rigors
          and rewards of entrepreneurship and social innovation.  This
          program places highly-motivated students from diverse backgrounds
          in mentored internships to better prepare them to launch start-up
          or nonprofit ventures.  Students get training and experience to
          empower them to become the next generation of entrepreneurs or
          nonprofit leaders.<br>
          <br>
          Internships last one semester (15 weeks) and students will work,
          on average, 8 to 10 hours per week.  Students receive a stipend of
          $1,000 toward their compensation.  In addition to the internship,
          students engage in projects and activities that further expose
          them to the social entrepreneurial mindset.  Students will be
          placed in an internship based on their career
            interests and in consultation with the
            Shriver Center.<br>
          <br>
        <strong>TO APPLY:<br>
    </strong>Interested students are asked to submit a Resume and a Cover Letter answering the following questions:<br>
    Discuss your interest in both entrepreneurship (for profit or social) 
    and this intern program.  What has been your entrepreneurial/social 
    involvement thus far such as coursework, seminars, etc. (if 
    applicable)?  What type of start-up or nonprofit would you like to 
    intern for and why?  <strong><br>

    <p>“I remember Hampden before it was hip,” writes Christopher Corbett, professor and acting chair of English, in his latest column in Baltimore <em>Style</em> magazine.  <em>Forbes</em> and the <em>New York Times</em> have both recently written about the Baltimore neighborhood.</p>
    <p>“I’m too old for skinny jeans. And I don’t look good in a pork pie hat,” he writes. “But I like hipsters. I like them so much that I hope some of them will buy rowhouses and fix them up and pay taxes and have a litter of little hipsters and send those little hipsters to public school and raise the test scores and all will be well.”</p>
    <p>The column, “<a href="http://www.baltimorestyle.com/index.php/style/baltimore/hip_hip_hooray/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Hip, Hip Hooray</a>,” appeared in the December issue of the magazine.</p>

<Title>Dr. Rebecca Boehling, Dresher Center for the Humanities, in Spiegel</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Rebecca Boehling, professor of history and director of the Dresher Center for the Humanities, appeared in the international publication “Spiegel,” in a feature article about the International Tracing Service. Boehling was named as the new Director of the ITS in May 2012 and will begin her service on January 1, 2013. The article, which can be found here, tells the story of Nazi Germany survivors who desire to be reunited with their families. ITS reunites 30 to 50 families per year and is the world’s largest archive of Holocaust documents.</div>
