1. Create a new or edit an existing assignment
2. Point to Add Rubric to access the dropdown list in the Grading section

3. Select an option:

   1. Select Rubric to add a rubric you created with the Rubrics tool. A pop-up window opens, allowing you to select and submit the rubric you choose

   2. Create New Rubric to create a new rubric to associate with the assignment. A pop-up window opens, allowing you to create the rubric that will be associated when you click Submit

   3. Create From Existing to create a new rubric based on a rubric you have already created. A pop-up window opens, allowing you to select the rubric you want to base your new rubric on, and then another window in which you can create the new rubric that will be associated when you click Submit

4. Finish creating or editing the assignment and click Submit. NOTE: If you are using a percent-based rubric, you need to provide the Points Possible before clicking Submit. If you are using a points-based rubric, you are prompted to use the rubric’s point value as the assignment’s possible points

1. Expand the Course Tools section on the Control Panel and select Rubrics
2. Select the rubrics you want to export on the Rubrics page
3. Click Export on the Action Bar
4. Select where to save the exported rubric on the Rubric Export Settings page
5. Select Export to Local Computer
6. Click Submit
7. Click Download and save the file to a location you choose on the Downloaded Exported Rubrics page

If you are designing a rubric to be used with only one assignment, you can use a points-based rubric. However, if you want to create a rubric that you can use on multiple assignments or on multiple types of content, a percent-based rubric is more flexible.

For instance, if you create a rubric that you want to use on all the papers your students submit during a semester, from a 50-point response essay to a 200-point final research paper, a percent-based rubric allows you to see easily how the point distribution will occur for each item.

If you are using an internet service provider such as NetZero, your connection to the Internet may be interrupted while you are taking a quiz. When you are taking a quiz in Blackboard, you are not actually navigating the web. NetZero and other internet service providers see this as inactivity and will try to close down your connection. You may receive a message saying that your Internet connection will be closed unless you click OK or Yes. Click the appropriate button to verify that you would like to continue using the internet and you should be able to finish completing your quiz.

If you have lost your internet connection and your quiz attempt, contact your Instructor to have your quiz attempt reset.

The following tips can help you avoid this issue in the future:

• Do not refresh the browser page.
• Do not close the browser window
• Do not click the browser's back button.
• If possible, write out the text in an external application and then paste it into Blackboard Learn. Working offline first ensures that your work in progress will not be lost.
• If you are working in assignments, you can save your work in progress. Saving often helps avoid any browser timeout issues.
