Involvement Fest was fun!

If you drive down Rt 40, heading west from 695, you will find Loafers Sports Bar and Grill (the Best Kept Secret in Catonsville). This is the perfect place to go for sports fans on a budget. There are multiple screens available for viewing in the two rooms. The food is what you would expect from a bar, but they have scored some creative points with the names of their entrees and the slogans under the categories of food. Some of my favorites include the “Bases Loaded Nachos,” “The Dug Out Potato Skins,” and the double play of appetizers followed by the triple play- where you can get three appetizers for a sweet price. Check out their menu to see their creativity and selection of food.

I was in the mood for a burger and fries, so I chose the Bristol Burger that came with bacon and bleu cheese.

Sorry, I had to take a bite before snapping a picture. I was hungry.

With the side of fries, this oversized entree was definitely worth the $8. The thick burger was cooked exactly the way I wanted it and the fries were fresh and salty.

My friend, Bryan, had a Southwest Chicken Wrap that looked equally as delicious

He seemed to enjoy it since we didn’t need any take-home boxes for the road!

After dinner, we stayed for dessert. I had my eye on a chocolate cake ever since we sat down. The piece they brought me was HUGE!

And Bryan had triple-layered carrot cake that was moist and sticky.

The meal was great! I will say that the crowd was not exactly college age, but it was a weekday evening. They had a DJ setting up when we were leaving so maybe the atmosphere changes when it gets late.

Tickets for Ice Skating (THIS SUNDAY!) and New York City (next weekend- 2/18) are on sale! 

The College of Engineering is offering to qualified undergraduates from throughout the country the opportunity to conduct research projects in:

• Computer Science
• Computer Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Engineering Technology
• Materials Science and Engineering

The program lasts for eight weeks during the summer. The dates for 2012 are June 2nd (check-in) to July 28th (check out).

Research Opportunities

All research projects pertaining to SUPER will be based in Discovery Park, just four miles north of the main campus.

SUPER students will have office space in Discovery Park and access to all research facilities. They will be assigned a faculty mentor and can choose to perform research under one of our research areas or propose a research project of their own (check our website for other exciting research projects):

• Bioinformatics
• Characterization and testing of piezoelectric materials and devices
• Computer architecture, memory systems, and parallel processing
• Development and testing of advanced polymer based materials and composites
• Embedded Computing
• Low Power VLSI Design
• Microwave and Antennas

Eligibility

Our program is oriented towards students who have completed at least two years of study in:

• Computer Science
• Computer Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Materials Science and Engineering

A cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher at the end of the Fall 2011 semester is required.  Students who will graduate at the end of the Spring 2012 semester are not eligible for this program.
