    <div class="html-content">Full Title: University System of Maryland Student Council Positions Available<div>
    <span>Would  you like to work on the major policy issues facing public universities  in Maryland along with students from other University  System of Maryland campuses?  UMBC is preparing to nominate three students to  serve on the University System of Maryland Student Council for  2010-2011.  Two of the positions are voting members, and the third is a  non-voting "shadow" representative. No experience is necessary for any  of these positions beyond being a <span>student</span>.</span><span>  Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.<br> <br>

    <div class="html-content"><p>Junior or Senior computer science/electrical engineering undergraduates needed to help in <strong>d</strong><strong>eveloping operant conditioning experimental apparatus</strong> for use in biology/psychology experiments with birds. <strong>Must have Matlab programming skills</strong> and familiarity with basic computer and electronic hardware. <strong>Circuit-building skills and previous experience with signal processing a plus</strong>. Students will assist in building experimental hardware and in programming Tucker-Davis signal processing modules (<a href="http://www.tdt.com/">http://www.tdt.com/</a>) to interface with experimental hardware.  A variety of designs are anticipated, which may lead to several different student projects involving independent study credit (399 or 499). Nominate the book you think would be best for the <a href="http://www.umbc.edu/undergrad_ed/book/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">New Student Book Experience</a>. Now you can <a href="http://apps.facebook.com/umbcbooksuggest/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">nominate on Facebook</a>. Once you suggest a book, you can choose to post your suggestion on Facebook and ask your friends to also suggest books. New students this year really liked The Translator. Can we find something just as engaging for next year?     <div class="html-content"><p>Jose Antonio Vargas profiles <a href="http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/markzuckerberg" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Mark Zuckerberg</a> in this week’s New Yorker in <a href="http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/09/20/100920fa_fact_vargas" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The Face of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg opens up</a>.  It’s a short piece, but I learned a few facts. One in fourteen people in the world has a Facebook account.  All of Zuckerberg’s acquaintances call him Zuck.  Zuck has eight hundred and seventy-nine Facebook friends. Zuck likes Ender’s Game and roasting goats.  He considers himself an “awkward person”.  Not mentioned in the article, but of possible interest, is that <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1285016/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The Social Network</a> opens on October 1.</p></div>
