Facilities Management to Begin Lighting Project Monday Project to Include the Closure of Up to 50 Spaces Each Day On Monday, April 15, Facilities Management will kick-off a lighting project on Hilltop Circle between Commons Drive and Poplar Avenue. As a result, Parking Services will need to take approximately 50 spaces out of service each day of the project. 

The closed spaces will change as they progress through the project. If you typically park in this area and find there are no spaces available on Hilltop Circle, we ask that you park in the Stadium Lot. The good news is there is always ample parking available in this lot. We have attached a map of the affected area.

This event showcases the finalists from this year’s competition entries. The CBIC is an opportunity for UMBC students who are serious about starting a business or social impact venture to pitch their idea to a panel of judges to win money to help launch their venture.


A networking session with heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be held prior to the event for attendees to meet alumni entrepreneurs, fellow students and community members interested in entrepreneurship. 


Students- If you need transportation to and from the CBIC, a bus will meet in front of the flagpoles by the Administration Building. Pickup times to bwTECH are: 5:45pm, 6:15pm, and 6:45pm. The bus will Return to campus at 9:15pm

The 2024 SGA elections are soon to be under way: Online early voting begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and runs through Sunday, April 14. You can vote in person on campus between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, April 15, through Thursday, April 18. 

The elections matter, because SGA’s work is important—to you and to all of UMBC. Please take some time to visit SGA’s website to learn about the candidates in all of the races and find out about voting locations and hours. Then, cast your vote so that your voice is heard.

We invite self-nominations to become representatives on the UMBC Adjunct Faculty Advisory Committee (AFAC). The AFAC is an elected body charged with representing the interests of our part-time adjunct faculty within our campus system of shared governance.

AFAC members receive a yearly stipend equivalent to one semester course and are reimbursed for travel and other reasonable expenses, consistent with USM and UMBC travel policies.

AFAC representatives will serve a two-year term from Fall 2024 through Spring 2026.

Elections are being held for 4 AFAC representatives:

2 representatives from CAHSS

1 representative from CNMS

1 representative from COEIT.

All Adjunct I,  Adjunct II, and Adjunct III faculty employed to provide instruction on a course-by-course basis at UMBC this spring, including UMBC programs at Shady Grove, who have taught in this capacity at UMBC for at least four previous semesters, are eligible for nomination. 

Please note that regular faculty and staff at UMBC who receive additional compensation to teach on a course-by-course basis are not eligible to serve on the AFAC.  

Self-nominations must include name, College, and length of service at UMBC as well as responses to the following questions:

1.       What strengths do you think you would bring to the AFAC? (200 words or less)

2.       What issues do you think the AFAC should be addressing during the 2024-2025 academic year? (200 words or less)

Candidate statements and voting instructions will be posted the following week and voting will take place over a period of ten days.

The GES Department invites you to attend Molly Finch’s thesis presentation. Molly is a member of UMBC’s ICARE program and a GIS professional working for conservation nonprofits. Her research explores President Biden’s Justice40 Initiative and its local implications. Looking at how federal environmental funds have been distributed in the past can offer solutions to meet current environmental goals (i.e., greening projects) in Baltimore.
