Paid Summer Internship Opportunity!
Civic Works, in partnership with 12 aging organizations in Baltimore, is hosting the Summer Experience in Aging program. This program offers paid internships to up to 20 students every summer, and those who complete the program receive an educational stipend that can used toward school fees or loans.
The goal of this program is to introduce students to careers in aging, which may be of interest to those pursuing a human services, aging, social work, etc. degree or anyone curious about what a career in aging entails.
Please find attached the program flyer and a link to the Eventbrite page, where students can register for our virtual internship fair on April 9, 2024 from 11:00 - 1:00PM.

Residential Faculty Research Fellowships - The Dresher Center for the Humanities invites applications for two Residential Faculty Research Fellowships for Spring 2025.
Full-time tenured or tenure-track UMBC faculty, as well as full-time Professors of the Practice, who are pursuing humanities research in College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences are invited to apply for a Residential Faculty Research Fellowship for Spring 2025.
These fellowships offer the gift of time, space, and collegial conversation within a robust humanities center environment and enhance the conversation surrounding inclusive excellence.
Submit completed proposals and letters of support from department chairs or program directors to dreshercenter@umbc.edu.

Graduate Student Research Fellowships - The Dresher Center for the Humanities invites applications for two Graduate Student Research Fellowships for the 2024-25 academic year. One fellowship will be awarded for Fall 2024 and one for Spring 2025. Funding is intended to support and promote promising humanities research by graduate students at UMBC.
The fellowships are open to all UMBC doctoral and master's level students working on humanities-related research projects that will culminate in a dissertation or master's thesis. Proposals will be reviewed by the Dresher Center Advisory Board.

Club elections!
We are holding club elections in April (Date TBD)
Hey everyone, per our club constitution we will be holding elections for all positions sometime in April (TBD). The terms will start May 1st, and will continue to next May 1st. The positions we have are President, Vice president, Treasurer, Secretary, event Coordinator, and Historian. We also have volunteer positions called event staff where you help brainstorm events and run them. If you would like to run for a position, then please prepare a short speech or slide show to be shown during elections. Elections will be held in the weightlifting discord in general Voice channel.
Brief explanation of each role:
President: Communicates with the school, the RAC, and other management to schedule events, get permission for things, make sure all club documents are in order, etc.
Vice President: Works with president and other officers to plan events, works with the president to direct other officers to make sure events run smoothly.
Treasurer: Manages the organizations funds, works with other officers to plan fundraisers, and ensures the club follows financial rules and guidelines.
Secretary: Works with the president and vice president to plan events, send event reminders in myUMBC page and discord, and make sure all officers are up to speed on events.
Event Coordinator/communications officer: monitoring the club discord to ensure members are following the club rules and school policy. Coordinate and plan various events with the approval of the board, and manage the club Instagram account to advertise the club and events.
Historian: Takes pictures and videos at club events, works with event Coordinator/communications officer to post on the Instagram, and help spread awareness about the club and planned events.
Event staff (Non-board voluntary position): Works with the board to brainstorm events help run them.
