I regularly confirm qualifications including education, experience, certificates, and licenses. To gather or verify information, this calls for careful record-keeping and communication with educational institutions, licensing boards, and certifying authorities. I am in charge of keeping thorough records of all credentials, adding up-to-date information to databases and software programs, and keeping an eye on adherence to organizational and legal requirements.

Describe the process of obtaining your position. When did you hear of the position and submit your application?
My internship as a credentialing specialist was acquired through a unique method that involved a LinkedIn connection and previous work experience. My employer and I first connected on LinkedIn. I got to know her when I worked with her at my previous job. I kept in touch with my employer professionally after we connected on LinkedIn by engaging in part in conversations about healthcare and credentialing. My future employer mentioned the internship possibility for credentialing work within their organization at some time during our professional engagement. I expressed interest in applying for the role as soon as I learned about the internship opportunity. After reviewing my application, my employer scheduled an interview virtually to further assess my qualifications, skills, and fit for the role. I was given an offer for the internship after the interview procedure. I accepted the offer and started getting ready for the internship after going over the agreements and talking about any important specifics.

What resources did you use to find your current experience?
LinkedIn or other social media

What have you enjoyed the most about your position and organization?
The areas of my job and company that I have liked the most are the chances for further education, the cooperative team atmosphere, and the assistance with career development. I feel fulfilled and satisfied with my work generally because of these factors.

How do you believe you have made an impact through your work?
Through my efforts, I have improved provider satisfaction, facilitated effective processes, ensured compliance, and contributed to organizational success.

What advice would you give to another student who is seeking an internship or similar experience?
Seek guidance, insights, and internship possibilities from instructors, former students, family friends, and other acquaintances. One useful tool for locating internship opportunities is networking.

Please provide a short reflection or quote about what you liked most about your position / earning internship credit / working with the Career Center.
My internship as a credentialing specialist has been a precious opportunity that has helped the essential healthcare industry and given me possibilities for practical learning. Getting credit for my internship not only confirms that my efforts are being recognized academically for practical abilities, but it also honors my hard work. Working with the Career Center has been helpful. They have provided me with direction and encouragement as I've traveled through my career.

Reminder: Early Time Sheet Approvals & Time Entry (3/11/24)

<Tagline>Shortened and modified deadlines due to Spring Break</Tagline>

Good Afternoon!

*CRITICAL INFORMATION - Please share this information with your departmental employees as it contains important action items*

I. Time sheet submissions and approvals:

Note: ETS refers to Electronic Time Sheet

Due to the upcoming spring break (3/18 Through 3/20) the HR/Payroll and HRIS units are required to meet strict payroll processing deadlines. As a result, the deadline for time sheet approvals has been impacted for the time sheets ending 3/09/2024.

Time sheet submissions and approvals for pay period 2024-19 (ending 3/09/2024) are due by 9:00 am on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Time sheet approvers must coordinate with their employees to ensure time sheets are submitted in enough time for review and approvals. Time sheet approvers who will not be available to review and approve time sheets should communicate with alternate approvers accordingly.

Late time sheet submissions and approvals will have a critical impact to hourly employees' pay and employees earning overtime in Time Entry for PR20. Time sheet data for pay period 19 must be approved in order to load into Time Entry for payroll 20.

To avoid a high volume of Time Entry Correction forms or potential advance requests, please review ETS that are in a submitted status and follow-up with the ETS approver (primary or alternate) before the noon ETS deadline on March 16th.

Payroll Preparers have access to view submitted but not yet approved ETS. To view this information, please navigate to: UMBC Time and Leave Processing > Employee Time Sheets > Dept Time Sheets. Then filter on the time sheet status of "Submitted."

Payroll Preparers who are not familiar with the ETS approver may review the Employee-Supervisor/Alt Set-up screen by navigating to: UMBC Time and Leave Processing > Employee Time Sheets > Employee-Supervisor/Alt Set-up

II. Time Entry for PR20:

12 noon, Thursday, March 14, 2024 - PR20 time entry is scheduled to open at 12 noon. All approved ETS data will load into time entry.

Once Time Entry is open, the burst reports will be available. Preparers will see a submitted time sheet PDF that displays employees' ETS that were submitted but not approved. If there are employees listed on this report, notify the approver for approval and then make edits in Time Entry to leave, hours and pay adjustments. The Time Sheet needs to be approved to ensure these are accurate time sheets to enter. NOTE: Preparers will need to back this data out of the time entry cycle to avoid double processing.

12 noon, Friday, March 15, 2024 - Time Entry will close at 12 noon.

The preliminary gross pay report will be available later in the afternoon following the 12 noon TE closure.

PR Adjustment forms will be due 12 noon, Friday 03/15/2024.

Time Entry Corrections will be due 12 noon, Thursday 03/21/2024.
