Club Meeting Tonight! Week 4 (Spring)
Topic: OWASP Top 10
Hey CyberDawgs!
This week, we will be discussing the OWASP Foundation, in particular their "Top 10" for web application security. We will discussing what the OWASP Foundation is, the risks on their "Top 10" list, the relevance of the list in 2024, how different exploits work, how to patch/prevent exploitation, and finally demonstrations of the exploits themselves. Regardless of your current knowledge, tonight will be a great opportunity to learn about the importance of web security and how to defend your future projects. We look forward to seeing everyone tonight!
As a reminder, this week's submissions for the CyberPaws CTF challenge will close at the start of tonight's meeting. Remember to submit your flag! Also, if you would like a hint, you can DM a board member to receive one.

Walker roommates for Annual license
Hi all! I'm a current undergrad planning on living in Walker with an Annual license up until I graduate in Fall 2024. If anyone is interested in forming a roommate group, I'm fairly quiet and like to keep my space neat+clean. LGBT friendly is a must and I'm fine with pets/ESAs.

M&C Meetings- Spring '24
This year, we have adopted a new approach by organizing separate M&C meetings for each college at UMBC. This strategy is designed to address specific issues facing Graduate Assistants within individual colleges and departments in a more focused manner. Additionally, we have extended invitations to department chairs to ensure that department-level administration actively participates in resolving GA-related concerns, in collaboration with graduate school administration.
The
CNMS M&C Meeting is scheduled for March 11th, and we strongly encourage all
GAs from Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics and Statistics to complete
the survey. Your input will allow you to voice your concerns and issues to the Graduate Assistant Advisory Committee, who will present them at the M&C meetings for discussion and resolution.

Launchpad Scholars receive one-on-one mentoring, LSAT preparation, and leadership training, all at no cost.
The yearlong program aims to break down barriers to law school and the legal profession.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
- The program is for current college students as well as college graduates who are planning to apply to law school in the fall of 2025, with the goal of enrolling in law school in the fall of 2026.
- Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.3 and be 18 years old by the time the program begins.
- The program is open to applicants from all backgrounds, but we especially welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including individuals who are (or will be) the first in their families to graduate from college, individuals from low-income backgrounds, members of racially and ethnically underrepresented groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with disabilities, and veterans or military service members.
- Yale Law School is committed to equal opportunity and accessibility to all candidates who show great academic and personal promise irrespective of citizenship status. These policies include undocumented students living in the U.S., whether they hold DACA status or not.

Elections for Senator Position Nominations are open now!
Become a senators in the FY 2024- 2025 School Year
The Graduate Student Association elections for Senator Position are open now!
Here are the deadlines for the Senate Elections.
Nominations Open: March 4th, 8 am
Nominations Close: March 25th, 8 pm
Voting Opens: April 5th, 8 am
Voting Closes: April 20th, 8 pm
Interested in running for Senate but not sure what the position includes?
Yearly, interested graduate students will submit nominations to the Graduate Senate to express an interest in being a graduate senator for either the applicants's college and or for the Student Affairs group. Senators are elected members who represent some portion of the graduate student body and compose the entirety of the Graduate Senate.
The Graduate Senate is composed of 4 senators from each of the following 4 groups:
1. CNMS (College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences)
2. CAHSS (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) + Erickson School
3. COEIT (College of Engineering and Information Technology)
4. Student Affairs (Cultural, Religious, Social, Professional Interest Groups)
Meet the current Senators!
Who is eligible?
ALL GRADUATE STUDENTS, that includes Masters and Ph.Ds.!
You must be in GOOD academic standing. GPA of 3.0 or higher.
All Graduate Students who are graduating Spring 2025 or any Spring Graduation date thereafter. (Terms are 1 year and begin July 1 and ending June 30 of the following year)
Duties:
Senators must represent the concerns and opinions of their constituency,
Senators must report on the proceedings of Senate Meetings to their constituency,
Senators must attend all Senate Meetings
Senators must host at least three (3) Town Hall meetings per Academic Year.
Senators must join and remain active on at least one university committee.
Senators must report back the affiliated university committee meeting updates.
Length of Term:
Please keep in mind, the length of term for Senators shall be for one year, beginning on July 1 and ending June 30 of the following year. If you are graduating in the Winter of 2024 you are not eligible to apply.

Am I in the Right Major Workshop: TODAY 3-4 UC115
Get help navigating the path to the right academic fit!
Do you find yourself...wondering whether a B.A. or B.S. in biology is better for medical/dental school?
Perhaps you want to major in something specific that you think UMBC might not offer?
Wondering if the major you're in is really the right fit for you?
Lots of students enter college thinking we know exactly what we want to do, but when we get a semester or two into our degree, we start to wonder if we're in the right major, or even on the right career path. Are you feeling this way? Attending our guest workshop today is a great starting point!
We'll have visitors from:
- The Invidiualized Program of Study (INDS - create your own major!)
- Pre-Health Advising
- The Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising (for allied health students!)
- College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) Advising
This is a great place to meet some people who can help talk you through your major or career plan, figure out next steps if you've made a recent change or decision, or even just explain the different major options within CNMS.
This workshop will take place from 3-4 PM TODAY, March 4 in The Learning Collaboratory (UC115). We'll see you there!
