Welcome to the FINAL day of UMBC Tabletop Gaming Club!

 

This Tuesday (12/11) will be the last day we meet in ILSB 116A at 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm this semester.

 

While we are not meeting officially on Thursday or next Tuesday, you are welcome to meet together if wanted. If you do, please do it in the Student Org room in the Commons or somewhere else as there will be an exam on Thursday in ILSB 116A during standard club time.

 

We hope everyone had a fun semester of playing games and roleplaying. Do well on your finals and projects, and we’ll see you next semester.

Registration is now open for the FREE Mock MCAT and DAT event this winter! This event is designed to simulate a real test day environment, which helps you prepare for this exam.

 

Participants in this event must:

·      Be a current UMBC student or alum

·      Intend to apply to medical or dental school in the next cycle (2024-2025 cycle)

·      Be able to come to campus on the test date (Tuesday, January 23rd)

·      Secure their own full-length practice test

 

What can you expect from this event? Participants will check in, secure belongings, access and take the exam, use optional breaks throughout the exam as needed, and complete a survey about the event after completing the exam.

 

Space is limited and registration is required. The priority registration deadline is THIS Friday, December 15th. Exam spots will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. Register for the mock MCAT here or the mock DAT here.

 

Important: Participants MUST secure their own FULL-LENGTH practice test, which they will access via the desktop computers in ENGR 122/122a on the test day. Laptops or other devices will not be permitted. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) offers two free practice exams and four low-cost practice exams. Details here. Information about the full-length DAT practice test may be found on the ADA website at the bottom of this page.

About the Campaign:  As a Campaign Fellow, you will play a crucial role in supporting the campaign's initiatives and engaging with the community. Fellows will participate in the Campaign Classroom, a biweekly 90 minute session with best in class campaign operatives and consultants from across Maryland focusing on each discipline involved in local politics.


Job Responsibilities:

Community Outreach: Act as a representative of the campaign by engaging with community members, attending local events, and distributing campaign materials.

Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing campaign events, including town halls, fundraisers, and community meetings. This may involve logistical support, coordination with vendors, and on-site assistance.

Door Knocking / Phone Banking: Reach out to voters via door knocking / phone calls to share information about Councilman Costello's platform, address concerns, and encourage support for the campaign.

Data Entry: Maintain and update the campaign database with accurate information on voter demographics, preferences, and interactions.

Social Media Management: Contribute to the campaign's social media presence by creating content, scheduling posts, and engaging with followers.

Research: Conduct research on relevant local issues, competitors, and community concerns to support campaign messaging and strategy.

Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance, including managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and responding to campaign inquiries.

Qualifications:

Passion for civic engagement and community development.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Familiarity with local issues and a commitment to Councilman Costello's vision for the 11th District and Baltimore City.

Requirements:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university program, or be a recent graduate.

Availability to commit 10 to 18 hours a week.

Reliable transportation to campaign events.

Proficiency in basic computer applications and social media platforms.

Compensation / Benefits:

Base paid stipend of $800 per month.

Additional paid and promotional opportunities available.

Hands-on experience in political campaign operations.

Tonight is our final club meeting of the semester! However, instead of our regular meeting format we are going to a little of a celebration. From 7:10 PM to 9:00 PM in Engineering 231 join us for an End of Semester Celebration! Everyone is invited to attend! We especially welcome other clubs and affiliate collaborators to join us as well! (SAD, LUG, ARC, WiCyS, etc.)

Here's what to expect:

- An opportunity to share stories, experiences, and maybe a few laughs over the past semester

This event is a chance for us to celebrate the end of the semester and the resilience, dedication, and camaraderie that define our community. We've all put in much hard work this semester, and it's time to celebrate that effort. So come ready to kick back, have fun, and enjoy well-deserved downtime.
