Join iHARP in congratulating Chhaya!
iHARP is proud to announce Chhaya Kulkarni, UMBC PhD Candidate, will be a part of the GESTAR Fellowship! Through this fellowship, she will gain experience working with NASA's Global Modeling and Analysis Office (GMAO) under the mentorship of Dr. Nikki Prive. NASA's GMAO is responsible for developing and distributing a variety of products that either incorporate NASA's satellite observations, aid in the development of new missions, or assist with satellite missions and field activities.
Through the simulated data from the observational systems, Chhaya will apply and evaluate her model with the help of her skills in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling. By utilizing the skills she has gained from this fellowship, Chhaya plans to improve her research skills, learn about new cutting-edge technologies so that she may produce high-quality papers, and use this research to further integrate data science and polar science in future research.

UMBC Again Named a “Great College to Work For”
Recognized in all 10 categories
Dear UMBC Community,
It is my great privilege to share the news that UMBC has again--for the 14th consecutive year--been recognized in the Great Colleges to Work For program, and that we were among just 11 institutions nationwide (and one of only two universities with the Research 1 Carnegie Classification) to excel in all 10 recognition categories.
Of course, it comes as no surprise to me that UMBC would be recognized nationally time and again for its workplace community and culture. We are fortunate, indeed, to come to work each day propelled by the worthy and noble mission to serve our students, our state, and the wider world through the transformative education we provide and the knowledge we create. I am grateful every single day for this extraordinary community, and I thank all of you who took the time to participate in this year's Great Colleges to Work For survey.
The program, run by ModernThink, recognizes colleges that create great workplaces and is based on employee ratings and participation rates in ModernThink's faculty/staff survey. Chang, in the AOK Library Gallery at noon. The program will include a Q&A session with a faculty and student panel discussing Del. Chang's life story as a first-generation Korean-American and public servant, and how UMBC prepared him for his career. Del. We expect (and hope) that the downtime will not require the entire nine hour duration. I will send an update toward the end of our downtime window alerting users to normal operation or the unlikely extension of the downtime window.

Firstly, thank you for attending last night's rush event and we hope y'all are looking forward to today as much as we are. At the end of this is a link to a grade release form. PLEASE FILL THIS OUT ASAP. This form is imperative to rush as it tells us and the school whether or not you have the gpa to be eligible and tells the school the same information. While filling out the form, MAKE SURE TO FILL OUT THE BOX FOR IFC under the section for Council Interest.
Secondly, today's rush event is the Bonfire. It will be off campus and rides are going to be provided. Meet at the Commons Front desk at 6:15pm so we can arrange groups for rides.
