    <strong>Congratulations to Dr. Alexis (Hillock) McKittrick, '01 on her role as FY24 Society of Women Engineers (SWE) President </strong><div><br></div>
    <div>
    <div>Alexis McKittrick, Ph.D., a Society of Women Engineers 20-plus year and life member, has served as a volunteer leader in the organization for more than 15 years, holding roles that span all facets of the Society. Prior to being elected president, Dr. McKittrick served as president-elect and spent two terms on SWE’s board of directors, including serving as secretary and leading the senate as speaker. Highlights from her other SWE leadership roles include chairing two committees; serving on two governance task forces; and serving as governor of the Mid-Atlantic Region.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>Dr. McKittrick is currently a program manager in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Geothermal Technologies Office. She serves on the SWE board of directors in her personal capacity. Prior to joining the DOE, Dr. McKittrick served as a senior researcher at the IDA Science and Technology Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., where she conducted nonpartisan research and analysis for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and various federal agencies. She also worked in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Change Division, focusing on greenhouse gas analysis and policy for the oil and gas, chemicals, and semiconductor sectors.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>Dr. McKittrick holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she was a Meyerhoff Scholar.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>In 2014, she was presented with the D.C. Council of Engineering and Architectural Societies’ Young Engineer of the Year Award and received SWE’s Emerging Leader Award in 2019.</div>

I'm looking for a responsible, friendly, and respectful graduate or PhD student in 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom town house located at Regina rd., 21227. The town house is 5 min walking distance from shuttle stops and is less than 5 minutes to campus by car. Lease is for a year and begins in mid-august. Rent is $500-$800/month and includes all utilities and internet. There are 3 rooms in the town house and willing to rent 1 room to one person maximum. The townhouse is spacious, comes with a lot of storage space, and the bedroom are of different size, from small, middle, or huge. The house comes with all appliances, central air/heating, washer and dryer, as well as reserved parking.</span></p>

    <p><span><span><span><br><br>You are invited to attend the 2023 PROMISE Summer Success Institute (SSI)! This conference, organized by PROMISE program volunteers from across the University System of Maryland, will be held in person at the <a href="https://myumbc.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ba9f054e605ae2468d006426a&amp;id=4bfc751c8d&amp;e=613cdee699" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Campus</a>, in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building on <strong>Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM.</strong></span><span> </span><span>SSI provides professional development, encouragement, motivation, career advice, peer support, and camaraderie, particularly for underrepresented graduate students and postdocs in STEM fields.</span></span></span></p>
    <p><span><span><span>This year, we are celebrating<strong> 20 years of the PROMISE SSI program! </strong>Our conference theme, <em><strong>"Fulfilling the PROMISE,"</strong></em> will celebrate and honor the amazing work of PROMISE over two decades. We will have inspirational keynotes, including a welcome from PROMISE founders <strong>Dr. Janet Rutledge and Dr. Renetta Tull</strong>, concurrent sessions featuring panels of doctorates now working as educators, as federal agency employees, in industry, or as change-makers working in science writing, science policy, and public health. We will also have workshops to help you build skills to launch your independent academic career and create inclusive environments. <strong>Importantly, this year we are bringing back regional alumni; please join them at 8:30 AM for breakfast to network. </strong>We aim to help you <em>connect</em>, understand the work you can do with your graduate degree, and grow skills and fulfillment, personally and professionally.
