1-Bed 1-Bath House in Relay - Luxurious & Super Charming

<Tagline>3 miles from campus, yard, beautiful home all to yourself!</Tagline>

    OWNER BIO

Greetings! I'm a UMBC alum and former adjunct instructor. I have rented to undergrad and grad students on and off for nearly 20 years.

    HOUSE DESCRIPTION

Beautiful small house for a single person or couple. Luxuriously
appointed. Located in scenic/historic Relay neighborhood! Nice yard,
wonderful neighbors. This is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath house. (see add link below for more pictures; just to be clear, it's the Guest House on this multi-unit property)

You'll have your own driveway for parking. Very cozy and relaxed
community, and very safe. Near highways, train, airport - super
convenient! Tucked away, but close to everything too. Just a 5 minute drive to UMBC.

Rent is $1800/month. Utilities are a separate cost. (BGE, Verizon FiOS internet) - electric from
BGE fluctuates, as most places - but you can dictate that by usage.
Internet is only about $30/month for gig speed = great deal. Water
utility paid by owner. Will consider pets, but not preferred. (we love
dogs, it's just a liability for us)

High end, newer appliances. Stunning bathroom. Screened in porch, and
sunny patio area out back. Wood burning fireplace.

Electric floor heat for cold seasons, all electronic thermostats. Window
units for A/C, as needed in summer to keep cool, but also manage
    utilities well.

Thanks for your interest!

Crushing Finals with Confidence

Finals season is here! Unfortunately, many students dread the end of the semester, but there is nothing to fear! Malcolm X once said,, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." A student with a strategy is more likely to achieve academic success. So let's strategize on how to prepare for crushing finals season with confidence!

Prioritize Your Hardest Class

As a student, it is important to work both hard and smart. As finals are approaching, evaluate your grades in each class. Which classes are you struggling with? Which classes do you need to devote more time to in order to improve your grade? Prioritize these classes.

    Make A Study Schedule

Study schedules are essential when it comes to the confidence that you need to crush finals. Have your study schedule include a to-do list of all the content you need to study and how long you need to study them. Study schedules help ensure that you are setting time aside to study and avoiding procrastination, which is essential when it comes to doing well on exams.

    Rewrite Your Notes

Rewriting notes is also a great way to better familiarize yourself with the content because it helps you make connections between the different pieces of information. Studies have shown that writing your notes can also help with retention of the information. Additionally, sometimes when we are rushing to get things down during class, our notes do not always appear the most organized. However, by rewriting your notes you can make them more organized and easier to study.

Test Yourself

After studying it's important for you to check in with yourself and make sure you actually understand the topic that you are studying. Testing yourself on the content area helps you to improve your learning and memory of the material. Additionally, when you test yourself, you can better identify your areas of knowledge that are lacking and work on studying those areas more effectively.

Teach Someone Else

Teaching someone is another effective way to prepare for finals. There is a psychological concept called the protege effect that states that teaching information to others helps you to learn the information yourself. Teaching someone increases your metacognitive processing awareness of the learning process, your use of effective learning strategies, and your motivation to learn.

Take some time to implement some of these strategies as you prepare for finals. You're going to crush it!

Campus Resources

Last, but definitely not the least, is the variety of academic resources UMBC offers for its students.

But learning does not have to end when you graduate; your educational journey could just be getting started.

In fact, lifelong learning can come in a variety of forms, including:

meeting and engaging with new people

traveling

community involvement

reading and keeping up to speed on current events

pursuing career opportunities, certificate programs, and picking up new hobbies!

Here are a few tips/resources to help you become a lifelong learner:

UMBC Division of Professional Studies: Do you already have a job lined up but are still interested in continuing your education? UMBC's Division of Professional Studies has courses, certificates and programs designed to fit the working professional’s busy schedule. Check out some of the upcoming events at our Main Campus or Shady Grove!

Remain active: Clubs/organizations are available outside of college! A simple Google search will direct you to various local activities where you can participate, take lessons from aerobics, to sports, or even learn a new language! Meetup.com is an excellent resource for connecting with people who share similar interests!

Now that you are in a real-world setting, there will be other skills you will need to learn!

Stay in touch: As your graduating class prepares to travel down different paths, you will have so much to offer one another as you gain further knowledge and life experiences. By staying in touch with former classmates, you may encounter opportunities to collaborate in work or network in a field different than your own. To start, you can join UMBC’s Chapter of Young Alumni, open to graduates of the last decade. Membership is free via the UMBC Alumni Association, which offers chances for networking and fun throughout the year. You can also participate in Retrievers Connect – an online platform that provides an opportunity for alumni to connect to support UMBC students, and connect with faculty and staff all in one space to support professional and career connections.

Don’t forget to join our LinkedIn to see where over 78,000 UMBC alumni are working!

Remember that life after college is what you make of it. Keep an eye open to the countless experiences waiting for you outside of UMBC. Your very next lesson may carry you through life!
