Maryland Y Youth & Government is a special program specifically designed to give high school students a hands-on lesson in how government works. Teens will learn how to elect their own leaders, debate, legislate bills, and lobby for their vision of a better future!

The program is open to all high school students in the state of Maryland regardless of how much or how little you may know about government and the legislative process. We'll teach you everything you need to know as all of your efforts culminate into a 3-day mock legislative assembly at the Maryland State House in Annapolis!

PROGRAM DATES

Students (referred to as delegates) from the same area or school form small groups (referred to as delegations) that meet weekly or bi-weekly under the guidance of an adult advisor. Delegates also participate in the following conferences:

State Legislative Conference, Annapolis, MD: April 22-24, 2023

Delegations are arranged regionally and in connection with a sponsoring entity, typically a Y or high school. To find a delegation in your area or for more information about starting a delegation at your school or in your community, please email mdyandg@ymaryland.org.
PR16 & PR17 AAOU SSC Paper Timesheet Submissions

Good Afternoon,

The AAOU SSC will be providing Time Entry support for our departments, through the completion of PR-17, which is being processed on 2/06/2023 and 2/07/2023. However, as our RT system has been adjusted to reflect our current finance based services only, you will not be able to access the standard "Paper Timesheet" request option.

In the event you need to submit a paper timesheet for PR-16 or PR-17, please use the General Inquiry queue, and ensure the approved paper timesheet is attached. Paper timesheets will not be accepted if submitted to an AAOU SSC team member via email. You will receive an RT ticket number as confirmation that your ticket has been submitted.

Paper timesheets for PR-16 processing are due to the AAOU SSC no later than 1/19/2023, and paper timesheets for PR-17 processing are due no later than 2/02/2023.

As a reminder, timesheet processing request tickets do not require approval, as the timesheet must contain all appropriate approvals to be processed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please submit a general inquiry ticket, and we will be happy to help.

Abstract:

Climate change and air pollution are linked in several ways, including that they both stem from anthropogenic fuel combustion and are leading risk factors for global public health. Novel geospatial data sources are enabling greater availability of information on exposure levels and risks for populations all over the world, including in places with limited ground monitoring. This talk will address how satellite and mobile monitoring observations of atmospheric composition are changing our understanding of air quality in urban areas in the U.S. and globally, and how these data can be leveraged to motivate more ambitious air quality and greenhouse gas mitigation policies at municipal, national, and international scales.
