Two courses in the political science curriculum, POLI 438 (Legal Internship) and POLI 448 (Internship in Policy, Politics, and Public Administration) enable students to earn academic credit for internships. 

To earn the four credits associated with POLI 438 or 448, students must:

• Work for at least 160 hours during the semester when the class is taken at an internship approved by the course instructor;
• Concurrently enroll in and fulfill all requirements associated with the Career Center's 0-credit, tuition-free Intern Success Practicum
• Complete a minimal set of oral and written reflections as specified in course syllabi.

Students need permission from the course instructor to register for POLI 438 or 448. Except in the case of eligible students who are applying for departmental internship placement assistance (please see below), students should register for the Career Center's Intern Success Practicum ("the PRAC") prior to seeking permission to enroll in POLI 438 or 448

• Existing Payroll Eligible Faculty/Staff: If you already have the cost of your permit deducted from your paycheck, your permit will automatically be renewed. 
• New Payroll Eligible Faculty/Staff: New employees (those hired from February 9  – August 23, 2022) must purchase their parking permits through payroll deduction. We ask that you submit your Payroll Deduction Form by Wednesday, August 24 at 11 a.m. You will see the payroll deductions for the 2022 – 2023 academic year from September 2022 through the end of May 2023.
• Payroll Ineligible Faculty/Staff: If you are not eligible for a payroll deduction for the cost of your permit, you must come to the Parking Services office to renew your permit. Our office is open Monday – Friday, from 8  a.m. – 4 p.m. Cost for an annual D Permit is $280 and for annual E Permit is $380. You may purchase with cash, check, or credit card.
