Officer Elections + April Hike

Hello everyone!

I apologize for the miscommunication about the meeting last week.

Since a substantial number of people were unaware of the meeting, I'll quickly go through some of the talking points from the meeting.

Officer Elections

Firstly, it's election season again!

Every year we elect new officers to run the club so that we can keep going on outings that are fun for everyone. If you would are interested in running for club president, vice president, or treasurer, you can sign up here.

As a reminder, all three of these roles must be filled in order for the club to be renewed.

April Hike

With the semester in full swing and with peoples lives being busier then ever, the general consensus was for this months outing to be another hike. We are still excited about the idea of a campout in Paw Paw, so if that sounds like something you want to do make sure you head over to the club Discord (which can be found through the UMBC Discord Hub) so you can find like-minded students.

This month, we're planning another hike to Patapsco State Park, a beautiful piece of land that is easily accessible from campus. Neither the destination nor the specific trail we will be on is decided yet, so if you know anywhere fun to go be sure to let us know! Otherwise, we will likely head to Cascade Falls again (a beautiful, straightforward 8-9 mile hike).

Weather permitting, the hike will be on Saturday the 23rd. We will meet at the RAC by 9:45 to hit the trail. Depending on the trail we choose, expect to be back on campus around 4:00 or earlier.

As always, make sure you dress appropriately for the hike and bring lots of water.

If you have not already submitted a waiver of liability this semester, please fill out and sign the form and submit it to me either electronically or in person when you get to the RAC.

Think Like An Entrepreneur To Design The Career You Want

<Tagline>The making of an entrepreneurial mindset</Tagline>

“...As individuals look for meaning, they’re shaping their own destinies and experiences,” says Rita Trehan, CEO of Dare Worldwide. “When you think about your career like an entrepreneur considering a business, it prompts you to look at the company’s broad vision and develop a more comprehensive understanding of challenges and opportunities. Next, you look at where your capabilities are best suited to meeting those challenges and propose strategies to effect change,” she explains. Shifting from a traditional grid development for your career to thinking instead about what the company needs as a whole can help you increase your impact on the organization and become more proactive in your own development."
ELI is looking for new Conversation Partner Volunteers!

Every semester our number of students at ELI is increasing. We need more volunteers for our students who are very passionate about learning and practicing English. As you know one of the best way of improving speaking skills is having conversations with native speakers. For that reason, we are organizing Conversation Partner Program. This program requires only 1 hour of your time every week. You can meet in-person or online with your student partner at your convenience every week and simply have daily conversations. You can email us at "conv@umbc.edu" if you have any questions.
