The Black Graduate Student Organization (BGSO) is having a big event on Saturday, February 29th at 6 pm in honor of Black History Month (see flyer attached for more details). The event will be held at UMBC's Skylight room and students have DISCOUNTED tickets. The event is called "Black Excellence Award Ceremony and Ebony Ball."

Immediate opportunity for entrepreneurial students
Cybertini this Tuesday 1/28
Welcome back members,
We have an immediate opportunity for students looking to get more involved around campus. BWTech is sponsoring a Cybertini event/talk next Tuesday and they are looking for two (2) students that could help with registration. Students could then attend the event for free.
This is a great opportunity to network as well! If any students are interested, please contact Megan Wahler directly -

It is a Cybertini, and there is a speaker, William Evanina, Director of Counterintelligence for the National Counterintelligence Security Center, and head of counterintelligence for the US. It would be great for any students to come. Members can use the code: bwtech2020Friends on eventbrite.
The students would check people in at the desk, hand out name tags and sign new people in. Once that happens, they will be able to attend the event for free. A great opportunity for any student interested in cyber-intelligence or regional affairs.

1% Increase for Check Date January 24,2020
The University of System of Maryland recently confirmed that regular faculty and staff will receive a 1% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) effective January 1, 2020. This includes regular faculty, staff, Contingent II and Graduate Assistants that were hired on or before December 31, 2019.
Contingent I employees are not eligible for the COLA.
Faculty, Staff and Contingent II employees will receive their increase and 3 days retroactive earnings on check dated January 24, 2020. Graduate Assistants will receive their increase on check dated January 10, 2020. The Department of Human Resources will send a separate communication to campus departments regarding the processing of these actions.

The Department of Admissions is seeking a Visual and Performing Arts Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Counselor will recruit outstanding students to enroll in UMBC’s award-winning degree programs in Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. In Maryland and out-of-state, the successful applicant will seek prospective freshmen and transfer students proficient in the above areas.
