Women have been traditionally underrepresented within the STEM fields. Although women earn roughly 60% of all undergraduate degrees, the STEM fields are only composed of about 30% of women. This is ultimately harmful to our society when STEM careers are in such high demand. Women are 50% of the United States’ population, therefore, when we are not involving them in STEM fields, we are missing 50% of our intellectual industry. When we do not use the entire capacity of our workforce, we lose out on perspectives and idea, thus, greatly inhibiting progress and initiative. It is necessary to have a diverse range of people working in technology in order to have a diverse range of solutions.

The Reach Initiative is unique in that we offer an intensive year-long introduction to the STEM fields to young women which focuses on creating a sense of community and self-empowerment. Unlike many similar programs we actively engage young women in conversations about discrimination and provide them with tools to combat it. By the end of the year our scholars will have built a support network and engaged in substantive research.

And now it's time when you can help us with our goal of increasing women representation in STEM!If you could help us fund the projects that our mentees will be carrying out this semester, we would really appreciate it!
Any donation, whether large or small really makes a difference to these young girls! The link for our grit starter is given below. Please consider helping us help the future generations of women scientists!
