Baltimore City's Annual Homeless Point-in-Time Count
Data collection strategy to support "The Journey Home"
Sponsored by the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services, staff is in the process of planning for their annual Homeless Point-in-Time (PIT) count and are in need of volunteers to help! The PIT Count is an important service engagement and data collection strategy that helps to advance The Journey Home, Baltimore’s plan to end homelessness. The PIT helps Baltimore to identify individuals, families, and youth experiencing homelessness and connect them to much needed housing and support services. It also helps the Mayor’s Office to gather important data on the needs and characteristics of people experiencing homelessness. This information is used to inform community planning and the development of effective interventions to end homelessness in Baltimore.
Beginning on Sunday, January 27, 2019 and throughout the week, volunteers are needed to canvass neighborhoods, hospitals, service provider’s locations, and other places that people experiencing homelessness can be found in Baltimore to administer surveys to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The IRB website has been updated to reflect the 2018 revisions to the Common Rule. Please visit the site to view current IRB guidance and download all the forms you'll need to request approval to conduct human subjects research or make changes to research already happening. These forms are also available at the ORPC form download page.

Each of the courses in the First-Year Seminar (FYS) program is unique in its own way, but what is shared is the:
- small cohort experience. You, along with your faculty member and class participants, study a topic in a dynamic, small-group environment.
- focus on learning by sharing knowledge and experience through writing, discussions, and presentations…key skills your faculty and employers require.
- connection with faculty that can only happen in smaller classroom settings. They will get to know you well and can recommend you for all kinds of opportunities.
Need extra credit? Consider a "Y" Course.
Any course ending in Y includes a weekly Honors University seminar. Designed for students in their first year, the Honors University seminar reinforces the lecture through study skills, exam preparation, time management, and other key skills. Most courses meet general education requirements. These courses carry one credit and focus on enhancing skills that pertain to college life.
