The Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and the Division of Student Affairs are collaborating on a new opportunity for student entrepreneurs, the UMBC Entrepreneurshop.

The full implementation is still in process; however, the pilot has launched, providing an opportunity for students to showcase and/or sell their goods or services in The Commons for free! Students can also use the space to survey students about ideas or get feedback. 

There will be three tables available every Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Main Street until May 9.

CARAT (Creative Achievement and Research Administration Team) assists CAHSS faculty with research development, and pre- and post-award services. Faculty seeking external funding for research and creative achievement projects in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences should contact Rachel Brubaker (rbruba1@umbc.edu), CARAT Associate Director for Research Development. Faculty must be Principal Investigator (PI) Eligible to submit external proposals and receive awards at UMBC. Consult with your department chair or program director before beginning any funding application.

CARAT’s pre-award services include consultations and proposal development. For consultation requests, use this form. To begin a proposal with an identified funder, use this form. You must be logged-in to myUMBC to complete these CARAT forms. The lead time for fellowship proposal development is 2-3 business weeks, and at minimum 4 business weeks for grant proposal development. CARAT reserves the right to decline proposal requests that do not include adequate lead time.

Panelists include our Assistant Director, Taylor Smith, and keynote speaker, Andrea Pierce (Associate Professor in the Biden School of Public Policy & Administration at the University of Delaware) who will explore the broad foundations of sustainability while experts from anthropology, geography and environmental systems, engineering, and beyond will share insights on the real-world challenges and opportunities in building a sustainable future.
