Collecting orders for our fall 2012 order.
As many of you know and have already ordered, we are getting sweet new uniforms and hoodies! We'd like to give you some details about prices and the products so that you can make a decision quickly.
Completely redesigned sublimated jerseys. Full-sublimation means the entire jersey is a canvas for our design, and it's an awesome design, elephantastic and classy! This jersey and design will be used for many years to come so you can be confident in your investment. (

Standard black shorts with number. These are the wonderfully stretchy shorts that will match your jersey.
Price: $24.00
Hoodies. Winter brings the cold; so, bring your high-quality, warm, fuzzy-hooded Five Ultimate hoodie and sport Booya pre-game, post-game, and everywhere you go when you're not playing. For $3 you can put your number on the back. (For sizing chart: go

Price: $35 w/o number, $38 w/ number
We highly encourage you to order at least a jersey and preferably a pair of the black shorts also if you would like to play at tournaments with us. A uniformly dressed team looks formidable. The hoodies are optional.

Dan will collect payment in cash or check next week (week of Oct 8, 2012) so that we can get this big order out quickly. We will collect your money before we send out our order.

NSF guidance updates re: animal use and use
NSF has updated the Grant Proposal Guide (GPG) and the Award & Administration Guide (AAG),
with changes effective January 14, 2013 providing clarification and updated
guidance on proposals and awards involving vertebrate animals. These updates
now contain references to the review of wildlife research protocols, the IACUCs
role in the review and approval of such research, and the processes to follow
for UMBC investigators to follow when submitting and/or receiving funding from
the NSF.
Completed versions of the GPG and AAG are available at http://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/;
attached of the extracted pages related to vertebrate animals. Please contact
the ORPC with any questions.

(Job) Numbers Don’t Lie
This morning, the much-anticipated September job numbers were released. Unemployment fell from the August rate of 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent with 114,000 new jobs added. You can read the report straight from the horse’s (or should I say Bureau of Labor Statistics’) mouth here or check out coverage of the release in pretty much any major news outlet (but here’s the link for NPR!).
Let’s play a game – put yourself in President Obama’s shoes: how would you frame these job numbers?
A lot of people are saying that this is great news for the campaign – unemployment has fallen below 8 percent for the first time in almost 4 years! This is proof of a rebounding economy! This news is great for his campaign!
But others are saying, sure, these numbers are an improvement, but they’re nothing to brag about. The number of jobs added is relatively low, and many Americans are still facing tough economic times. Instead, one blogger suggests that Obama needs to
emphasize the mess that he inherited from the Republicans, the fact that every effort he has made to produce a stronger recovery has been blocked by the opposition, and the dismal 30-year trend of worsening inequality and rising insecurity.
So what do you think? What would you advise the President (or Governor Romney) to say?
