Ya'know, there's some news other than what's going on on La-La Land, a.k.a the Presidential Rat Race.

1 Trillion Dollar war, 4 billion dollar Tower. 

Interesting story. Aside from the fact that the name "one world tower" should seriously creep out any avid armageddon watcher, it turns out the cost of the tower to replace the world trade center has jumped another $700,000,000. Total price tag is now $3.8 Trillion, which is a little less than two B-2 Bombers.

Also interesting, the Port Authority, the majority holder in the project, has already given up the one world tower ever becoming profitable, at least in the next 20 years or so.

Gingrich Flees Florida.

Ironically, this comes on the heels of female support for the white-haired, wild-eyed neo-con slipping faster than a greased pig. Guess negative advertising does work. Gingrich should know all about that.

Then you've got the the teenage mind, a lovely little story by Alison Gopnik of the Wall Street Journal.

Just what is wrong with the teenage mind? Why are researchers now agreeing that teenagers start puberty earlier and become adults later? Well, it apparently has something to do with the fact they don't learn life's lessons or any sort of life skills when they're growing up anymore. As opposed to learning cooking, cleaning, long-term planning, and child-rearing when they're young, teenagers now don't learn any of these skills... inborn skills. Skills necessary to be self-sufficient.

Rather, such skills have been passed on to people specializing in these fields- restaurant employees, planning and accounting agencies, and daycare centers. In the end, it has something to do with parents not teaching them enough. Big surprise there! Read the article.

Ooooh, this one is nice... an in-depth examination of Disgust, especially over fermented foods and the like. Goes into detail about different foods people find delicious around the world. Kind of funny. Who wants some worm cheese? nom nom.

Lastly, the mid-atlantic small flock poultry expo is coming to town! Well, not quite to town, but not too far away, either. You want to see some really goofy looking birds? Maybe you just want to see what they look like before they're killed, plucked, chopped up, and packed for your dining pleasure. Or maybe you want to just see me wearing a chicken suit and doing the chicken dance.
