Campaign Internships in Baltimore County
Baltimore County, MD is more populous than four states and the District of Columbia. With over 700,000 residents as of the last census, it's larger than any Congressional District. A top tier countywide campaign is now accepting resumes for Spring and Summer internships. Ideal candidates are high-energy, excellent oral communicators, good listeners and have access to
their own transportation.
Spring Interns (volunteer) can expect to receive a comprehensive education in all substantive areas of campaign work: Field, Fundraising, Communications and Advance and their relationship to one another in building a campaign organization.
Summer internships, in addition to these rotations, also include a Specialized Field internship. 10 weeks of intensive organizing and training. Interns can expect to finish this program with enough experience to work as a field organizer in any Congressional race in the United States.

Real People Profiles: Meron Tesfaye
I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty and staff, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.
NOTE: This profile, of undergraduate Meron Tesfaye, is especially timely. Meron played a leading role in envisioning and producing this semester's Involvement Fest, which just concluded its successful three-day run on Main Street. Hometown: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: One year, five months.
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: I learn and grow to share my experience with others.
Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?
A: I really enjoy the learning part. It's just really exciting when you learn something new or when you see something in a different light and you wonder if everyone sees it and that feeling that makes you wanna tell everyone about it and change the world is really amazing.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: To try new things, to never forget how amazing you are and how amazing others can be.
Q: Complete this sentence: “I am a big fan of __________”
A: People who write comics and screen writers of animation and cartoon movies (some how I always wonder how they have such a wonderful imagination?) and people who hike really high places (coz it really scares me).
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
A:
- The Women Center : Something about it makes me feel like I'm at home .......and the naps I take there even if it is for 20 minutes between classes feel like heaven :)
- The pond by admissions office: Go there during summer around 7 or 8 pm ..... and just sit or lie on the side of the pond(make sure you don't fall though ...lol)....then tell me how it feels.
- The loop: sometimes I just get really tired, or annoyed and I just want to step out ..but can't go far because I have classes the next morning and I would just walk or run the loop when it's not too hot......somehow it revives me.
- The stadium: ....no one ever hangs out there....I don't know why.
- For such a small campus it's amazing how much UMBC has to offer and the cool thing is that there is always room for change - and more opportunities. I luv that about UMBC.

Undergraduate Research in Ancient Studies
The exhibit, "New Perspectives on Old Views", is now on display in the
Albin O. Kuhn Library Rotunda. Ancient Studies majors, Katie Bentz, Sarah
Carney, Catherine Pasqualoni, and Christina Ross, curated this exhibit,
selecting 19th-century photographs in the holdings of Special Collections
and more recent photographs taken by Ancient Studies students and faculty.
The subject of the photographs are classical temples of Athens.

On Monday, March 8th at 4:00 p.m. on the 7th floor of the AOK Library, Gender and Women's Studies will present a Humanities Forum Event. Our speaker, Hanne Blank, author and independent scholar, will present, Virgin Territory: On Writing a History of Virginity. The talk will be followed by a conversation between the author and Emek Ergun, Ph.D. Candidate in LLC who translated Ms. Blank's book into Turkish. Light refreshments will follow the lecture.
