Club Meetings
As a reminder, our meetings will occur every Monday Night from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM in ILSB 118 and via Webex: https://umbc.webex.com/meet/CyberDawgs. Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you're well-versed in cybersecurity or new to the field. 

Our first meeting will be Monday, September 9th; we can’t wait to see you all there!

Meeting Recordings and Slides
If you can’t attend on Monday Nights, we will release meeting recordings (when possible) and slides. These materials will become available no later than Tuesday Afternoon. 

Active Cyber Defense Class (CMSC 491)
If you're interested in more technical and in-depth topics, CyberDawgs Club Members are invited to attend and listen in on CMSC 491/691 Active Cyber Defense lectures. The class meets once a week virtually on Wednesdays from 7:10 - 9:00 PM. I'm letting everyone know that there is still some room available to sign up for our competition on September 21st, but spots are being taken up quickly. The competition is free for students, and once you pay the registration fee you will fill out a google form to get a full refund.

WE WILL BE "MEETING" TODAY, 9/4 FROM 6-7 PM, unofficially, in Flat Tuesdays (the room to the right of the information desk at the Commons). Some of us will be there getting to know each other and having a little free-write time, getting to know what you are looking for in the club, and sharing some projects or ideas.

  • Regular meetings will be held Wednesdays 6-7, location TBD (we will let you know ASAP!), and will be writing time and prompt responses for the first half or so, then sharing and discussing our pieces.
  • We will do monthly workshopping in-person meetings, times and locations are still being figured out. We also have a workshop channel in the Discord to post pieces and to discuss with others what critiques, skill building, etc.
  • Our Discord is currently our main platform of communication, where we discuss writing, post prompts, responses, works of our own, and more
  • Our Instagram is being revitalized and will be updated with this semester's prompts, events, projects, and more
  • And finally, our stories that you all wrote one sentence at a time are below! We had run out of space on the first one, so we had to begin anew on a second, also posted below
It was nice to see so many of you at Involvement Fest, and hopefully we will continue to see you all this semester!

From UMBC's Grad Student & Postdoc Development Required for any individual receiving funding from NIH
Grad Student & Postdoc Development Group is pleased to announce the launch of the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Microcredential Series - a set of in-person workshops this fall. 

While we will still offer virtual RCR training in CITI, these new in-person discussion-based workshops are required for any individual receiving funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including undergraduate students, graduate students, staff, postdocs, and faculty (see NIH guidance here). In order to meet NIH’s requirements for in-person RCR training, we have established these workshops as a series of microcredentials (also called “badges”) that lead to an overarching RCR “mega”credential. It should be noted that UMBC requires all graduate students completing a master's thesis or doctoral degree, along with all postdoctoral research associates, to complete RCR training through either CITI or the new in-person RCR Microcredential Series.
