Dear UMBC Community,

Effective December 12, 2025, you will no longer be able to create new Pre-Approvals in the Legacy Travel System. All new travel pre-approvals must be submitted in SAP Concur starting on this date.

We've seen strong adoption of Concur over the past several weeks, and many travelers are already benefiting from its modern interface, integrated booking tools, and faster, more accurate processing.

Planning Travel After Spring Break?

Please begin using SAP Concur now. We expect to fully retire the Legacy System before the end of the spring semester, and shifting early will help avoid delays.

All resources are available at travel.umbc.edu, including:

• Training for Travelers, Arrangers, and Approvers (in-person, virtual, and recorded sessions)

• Step-by-step How-To Guides

• Updated Interim Travel Policy and procedures

• FAQs and workflow charts

• Information on booking, discounts, and travel partners

The RAC will close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25. We will remain closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from November 26–30 and will reopen on Monday, December 1 at 7 a.m.

With winter Commencement just a few weeks away, we would love to have you join us for the celebrations at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.

Graduate School Ceremony | Wednesday, December 17, at 10 a.m.

Undergraduate Ceremony | Thursday, December 18, at 10 a.m.

If you plan to march in the procession, please register and place any regalia orders before November 20 to avoid expedited shipping fees. UMBC will subsidize the rental of academic regalia for faculty and staff participants, though orders placed after November 20 will incur shipping charges.

Those who wish to participate as event staff are encouraged to sign up as well. Volunteers will receive separate instructions, but please note that arrival time will be 8 a.m. for doors opening at 9 a.m.
