Thank you to everyone who volunteers!

This is a reminder that ISCOM will be having the last Company Visibility and Recruiting event of the semester tomorrow from 12-1pm in Commons 331. Come and network with our guest speakers, Neils Kasch (Data Scientist and Founding Partner at Miner and Kasch Data Science) and Anil Medapally (Senior Network Engineer/COR at The Library of Congress). They will be telling us about their career journey in the field of Information Systems and will be answering panel questions. This will be a great opportunity to hear from two different perspectives in the field. Resumes will also be accepted.

How does a map inform - and lie?

How did early modern Europeans, Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans draw "Asia"?

We will read, study and touch (literally!) antique maps made in the 1800s, 1700s and 1600s!

M/W 4 - 5:15 p.m.

Math & Psychology Building 103

Prof. Nianshen Song

I mentioned this at our last meeting, but this year we are donating gifts to a family in need. These gifts will be most of the gifts they receive this year, so please consider buying something. If you would like to buy a gift together with someone else, please email me (Jenni) at jenni16@umbc.edu. The gifts are due on December 4th, which is our last meeting for this semester.

You may also notice in the sign-up that there are a lot of spots to fill. We do not need to fill up all of them, but the more the better. Since this is a lot to sign-up for, if you have any friends that you know would be willing to help out, please refer them to the sign-up. Also, please wrap the gifts!

Thank you all for your generosity!

Thanks!!

Here are three reasons you should care:

- Climate change is proceeding faster in the Arctic than anywhere on Earth. The Arctic is literally melting.

- The region is home to an estimated 90 billion barrels of oil, or 6% of all reserves, and the world's last new global trade route.

- Russia is staging an unprecedented military buildup in the regionand the West is finally starting to respond.

The end of semester is a busy time of year for everyone, especially faculty. Instructional Technology will host three 90-minute sprint sessions on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 for faculty to walk-in and request a customized consult on any number of topics including:

• Preparing for Ultra: Plan your course roadmap to optimize your transition to the new course interface.
• Tuning up your Blackboard gradebook: Create columns, drop scores, check calculations, verify weighted totals, etc.
• Delivering & configuring virtual tests: Create online tests and promote academic integrity in online testing using Bb and Respondus Lockdown Browser.
• Conquering your end of semester “to do” list:: Export your gradebook, archive your course, plan for the next term, etc.
• Checking your course materials for accessibility: Use Ally to check your accessibility meters and review alternative formats.
• Recording & sharing videos with Panopto: Flip your classroom & prepare lectures.
• Planning for snow days: Schedule, deliver & record virtual classes with Collaborate.

Or take our survey: Let us know about your topics and questions.

Sprint 2 - 12 PM - 1:30 PM Meet UMBC’s comfort pup, Chip!

I mentioned this at our last meeting, but I signed us up to donate gifts to a family in need. These gifts that we will be donating will be most of the gifts they will be receiving this holiday season, so please consider signing up to bring in something by Friday, December 6th (I'll let you know where and when at a later date). If you would like to buy a gift together with someone else, please email me (Jenni) at jenni16@umbc.edu.

Also, I put a lot of sign-up spots for each section. They do not all have to be filled, but obviously, the more the better. And please wrap the gifts!

Thank you all so much for helping this family.

Hey yall!

Tonight we're going to be playing Get Dat Booty at 7 PM in Sondheim 105. There will be pre-selected OZs, which means limited starting zombies this evening. If you'd like to be a pre-selected OZ, check out the form link in yesterday's newsletter! We'll also be having the same deal on Thursday night's mission, Food Delivery, which we'll be playing at 7 PM that evening in Meyer 030. Both nights we'll be doing weeklong rules briefing and signup, so please make sure to stop by one of the missions if you'd like to join in week 2!!

Speaking of which, our Labyrinth weeklong is coming up next week! Normal one-night missions will likewise be suspended until the week after. We've also got our regular open officer meeting next Sunday, 11/17, at 1 PM in FA006.

See yall soon!
