Clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere...
Okay maybe just on our campus.
Hello Retrievers!
The week is almost over, and you know what that means: we have a cleanup tomorrow!
Come join us in front of the Dunkin at 2:45PM, and we'll head to the site together at 3. If you can't make it then, as usual the location and map will be posted
in our GroupMe!
Having said that, trash isn't everything (hot take, right?). If you've been dying to rip up some invasive species like I have, the SGA Senate is hosting a Food Forest Cleanup event next week, on Friday October 24th from noon to 2PM. There will be free pizza, and volunteer hours! This will also be right here on campus, and all you'll need is you! The flyer is attached below.
Lastly, we've been lucky enough to have a LOT of newcomers this semester. We'd love to hear from you all, so if you'd like,
here's a quick survey! This is just to see where you all learned about us, and what we can do better!

Dr. Christine Mair, Associate Professor of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health and Director of UMBC's Center for Health, Equity, and Aging, is co-leading a six-year National Institute on Aging P30 Grant to establish the Southern Population Aging Research Center (SPARC). In collaboration with the University of Maryland, College Park, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the Center will advance aging and population health research in the U.S. South, strengthen training for early-career scholars, and enhance research capacity at UMBC and across the region.

2025 Baltimore Running Festival - Downtown Route

Due to the 2025 Baltimore Running Festival and road closures, UMBC Transit will be unable to service the following bus stops on Saturday, October 18, 2025:

Are you involved in an artificial intelligence related activity, project, or program at UMBC? Organizing a lecture or lecture series? Running workshops or training sessions? Have a research initiative? Using AI in your operations that have external visibility?
Help us know what's happening
As a requirement of the Maryland AI Act (SB 818 of 2024), the State and University System of Maryland may require UMBC to be aware of all artificial intelligence uses, programs, projects, and their associated risks. Help us stay ahead of the regulatory curve in the quickly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and higher education.
Email Anupam Joshi, UMBC's chief AI officer, and copy to Kyle Pokorny with a brief description of your AI use that is not a research project.
UMBC AI Logo
The university's artificial intelligence working group, in coordination with University Communications and Marketing, has created an Artificial Intelligence at UMBC logo that should be used on all projects and programs moving forward. The goal is to create a common identity across UMBC's myriad AI efforts.
The dedicated logos can be downloaded from the files section of the my.UMBC Provost Group.
