Submit your research to the UMBC Review!

Submissions are now open to the UMBC Review, our university's journal of undergraduate research. The Review has a long history of publishing the work of Honors College members; last year's edition featured stellar work by Kelly Wan, Flora Kirk, and Adam Ng, among others. Especially if you plan to apply to graduate school in the future, the value of having your work published in a journal like this one is tremendous!

Interested students should read the guidelines provided by Editor Ghina Ammar below:

The submission application can be found at: https://ur.umbc.edu/umbc-review/ Click the black button!

Your submission application will include:

- Your paper: (8-20 pages including citations/title page, double spaced), uploaded as a Word document. If your paper is over 20 pages, you can submit it as it is, but please keep in mind that you may be asked to reduce if your paper is accepted.
The Application Form which will include:

- Research Journey: Please submit a 200 word description of how you came to study this topic. The point of this paragraph is to demystify the process of doing research or creative work for the reader. What sparked your interest in this research? Who helped you to complete it? Why are you passionate about it? What courses, professors, or readings inspired you? We recommend taking a look at research journeys from the prior editions of the UMBC Review for further clarification: https://ur.umbc.edu/umbc-review/editions/

- Abstract: Include a 200 word abstract that summarizes your project. This should be written for non-experts in the field, and should include your research question, scholarly relevance, description of your methods, major findings, and implications.

This form is a very important part of your application, as we need to know that your mentor supports the paper you submitted! Please make sure it is submitted by the final deadline. If you submit your paper by the priority deadline, the mentor form is not necessary for you to receive feedback. Remember to keep your mentor informed of any changes you make to the paper before submission.

The mentor recommendation form also asks mentors to suggest possible outside reviewers for your paper. We strongly encourage mentors to provide names of reviewers who are professionals in your field of study in this portion of the form. Peer-reviewers can be professors at other universities or professionals in the field (for example, a museum curator for a paper that focuses on museums). Peer-reviewers cannot be UMBC faculty.

Room for Rent

<Tagline>Large room in a huge townhouse available for rent.</Tagline>

I am looking for a roommate to share my nice townhouse in Catonsville. It is a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath house.
1 room is available in the 3 bedroom townhouse. You will have your own bathroom (not attached). You can find some pictures here:

https://www.trulia.com/p/md/baltimore/54-winslow-park-dr-baltimore-md-21228--1008909050

Bedroom can easily fit a queen size bed and has a nice sized closet. Additional storage space is available throughout the house.
The house has a washer and dryer in the basement and a dishwasher in the kitchen. In addition to the living/dining area on the first floor, there is a finished room in the basement and a backyard.

Unfortunately, management does not allow pets :(

The house is about a 10 minute drive from UMBC, walkable from Giants, UMBC transit stop is half a minute away, and is in a very nice/safe neighborhood off of route 40. If you like hiking, you can walk right into Patapsco State Park right down the street! Close to Lotte Plaza, Aldi, Giant, H Mart, Walmart and all the shops on Route 40. Also very close to Ellicott City.
Move in August.
Rent will be 750 + BGE + Internet

I am a machine learning engineer, UMBC MS in CS graduate.
I am an avid photographer and hiker. Weekdays I will be gone from 8 to 5 and on weekdays I will be out trekking or taking photographs. I keep to myself, clean after myself, and live a quiet life.
The lease stipulates that only 2 people live in the (giant) townhouse, so practically you'll have an additional guest bedroom and basement. Go nuts (reasonably please).
