We hope you had a chance to participate in the USM Professional Development Week 2025.

I was able to attend the Tuesday, 11:15 a.m. "Productivity: Strategies to Thrive in the Modern Workplace" session.  The presenter gave advice managing how we work and at the end shared some tools to help with daily work.  There was discussion around different types of work that we can identify:  Admin, Deep Work, Meetings, Other.  We need time for deep work and time for collaborative work; block time for deep and focused work.  I also learned about the 3 Ds: Delay, Deny or Delegate.  Another tidbit the presenter suggested that every 2 - 3 months you should document how you are spending your time.  This can help us figure out how we are spending our time.

His notable credits include Gumby, Pee-wee's Playhouse, The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Coraline, and The SpongeBob Movie.  

  • Artist talk: Moving Blobs of Clay

      • Join Rich Zim as he looks back on clips from his 40 year clay animation career. See behind the scenes footage and hear amazing stories about one man moving a blob clay and pushing a button to shoot frames.
  • Spooky Claymation Workshop

      • Explore wild transformations, exaggerated actions and otherworldly effects  with clay in this spooky-themed animation workshop.
