It <a href="http://codepen.io/chriscoyier/pen/cthvb" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">seems to</a> work the same as <code>rgba</code>, but I like the word transparentize better. I also didn't know Compass adds a few of its own, like <code>shade</code>, which adds black and is different than Sass's <code>darken</code>. </p>
