Edward Watson and welcomed Dr. José Antonio Bowen to campus to facilitate two AI workshops.

Join the FDC to share and/or learn from UMBC faculty’s experiences incorporating AI into class activities or assignments. How have you experimented with using AI to support learning in your courses? What questions do you have about integrating AI tools into your class?

For Bring Your Best Idea sessions, the FDC (locally) crowdsources answers to questions such as these. Please bring your best ideas to this lively, collaborative, and fast-paced online sharing session. Anyone who has an idea to share with the whole group will have two minutes to describe it. No slides please, though a link to a handout is welcome. After 20-30 minutes of sharing ideas, they will shift to Q&A and discussion. Whether or not you bring an idea to share, you’ll leave this session with new food for thought and several new ideas you might try in your own course.

Join the conversation! Participate in a book discussion of Wandering Stars, a novel by best-selling author Tommy Orange. A follow-up to his acclaimed debut, Wandering Stars traces the legacies of the Sand Creek Massacre of 1864 and the Carlisle Indian Industrial School through three generations of a family. 


This book discussion will take place on Monday, April 7th from 12-1pm in Library 259 with Conor Donnan, a faculty member in the American Studies Department, facilitating the book discussion. Share your thoughts and insights with fellow readers in a casual, friendly setting!

Evaluate your grade standing and course options ASAP!

This FRIDAY, April 4th is the deadline to withdraw from individual courses "W" OR change grading methods to Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory "S/U".


W/S/U course options count as an attempt in the class but do NOT impact your GPA.


If withdrawing from one or more courses will bring you to less than full time status (12 credits) there may be impacts in other areas such as scholarship, financial aid, and on-campus housing. Questions about those areas should be directed to the appropriate office.


You will want to work through this helpful withdraw worksheetfor more information on the withdraw policy, procedure, and checklist BEFORE you make any decisions.

Withdrawing from individual courses can be done via the Schedule and Registration system in myUMBC however S/U grading requires the submission of a Help Ticket. Information about S/U grading and the link to submit the Help Ticket can be found here.


Students can withdraw from the entire semester though the last day of classes, May 13th. 


Be sure to confer with your assigned advisor about your academic options.
