American Radicals

These two were meant for each other.

Sean Hannity, host of the Fox News television show “Hannity,” recently invited conservative columnist and political commentator Ann Coulter on his show.

As the two pundits discussed the investigation into the Boston bombers, the bottom right-hand corner of the TV read “Radicals in America.”

Perhaps it would have been more appropriate to flip the words around: American Radicals.

Certainly, that would accurately represent the two pundits on screen.

When Hannity began discussing the capture of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev inside of a boat, Coulter offered:

“Also, why not just shoot up the boat? They should have just kept shooting when they caught him in the boat. Just give him an automatic death penalty there.”

We here at USDemocrazy would like to suggest Ms. Coulter study the rule of law and due process. Perhaps she was absent that day at law school?

She proceeded to label lawyers as cowards (though she earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law) and mocked “civilian trials.”

Where is the prejudiced, Islamophobic rhetoric, you may ask? Don’t worry, there was plenty of that too.

As the discussion steered towards Tsarnaev’s wife, Coulter blurted out, in a stream-of-consciousness manner:

“She ought to be in prison for wearing a hijab.”

Coulter’s statement, as if a comment in passing, came with no further explanation.

Sounds like Coulter was also absent for the lesson on the Bill of Rights, with a focus on freedom of religion.

Does she believe Sikh and Jewish people should be imprisoned for their religious head coverings also?

Hannity, however, was apparently not startled by Coulter’s comments at all. On the contrary, the host of the show added,

“I would waterboard him myself.”

(Ironically, it’s been over 1,400 days since Hannity claimed on April 22, 2009 he would undergo waterboarding to prove it’s not torture – and would do it to raise money for the families of US troops. He has yet to fulfill his promise.)

To hear more shocking remarks that will leave you questioning how this ever aired, you can watch the dialogue here.

Keep in mind, “radicals” aren’t just people from foreign nations who come to terrorize our great country; they can be Americans too.
