Schaller explores how the 2010 and 2012 elections put Maryland on “a steady path toward leading a new vanguard of progressive policy and politics in the United States.”</p>
    <p>Maryland voters last year approved both the Dream Act and marriage rights for same-sex couples. This year the Maryland General Assembly has prioritized raising the gas tax and repealing the death penalty. Although a plastic bag tax and bottle deposit bill failed, Schaller suggests both proposals are gaining support and might pass in the coming years.</p>

<Title>Career Week Highlights Alumni, Helps Students Succeed</Title>

    <p>On Tuesday alumni panelists spoke about “How to get a job in any major:”  <strong>Tyrone Spady ’99</strong>, biological sciences (Legislative Affairs Officer and Lobbyist, Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology);  <strong>Chris Magaha ’03</strong>, information systems management (Operational Programs Manager – National Security Systems, Department of Defense);<strong> Maggie Lebherz ’08</strong>, modern languages and linguistics (Owner, Lebherz Oil and Vinegar Emporium); <strong>Joshua Budich ’00</strong>, visual and performing arts (Independent Illustrator); and <strong>Augustine Nwachu ’03</strong>, psychology (Senior National Recruiter, INROADS, Inc.).</p>
    <p>Later that night, students practiced their networking skills and enjoyed time hearing about alum success stories at the annual Student Alumni Career Networking Night.</p>
    <p>Today, alumni entrepreneurs spoke about how to “be your own boss:” <strong>Jeehye Yun ’97</strong>, computer science (CEO, Secured Sciences Group); <strong>Adrian Rosebrock ’10</strong>, computer science (Owner/Managing Partner Chic Engine LLC, ShiftyBits LLC); and <strong>Mary Slicher ’73</strong>, sociology (Co-founder and Executive Director, ProjectPLASE).</p>

<Title>Blink</Title>

    <p>Chrome is going to use "Blink" as a rendering engine now, a fork of WebKit. I imagine the Chromium team will stop committing back to WebKit, so that project will stagnate a bit. Safari is already rather slow to update, and iOS only allows WebKit on browsers, so that's a bit of a bummer. Overall it's probably a good move and keeps Chrome charging forward. No more vendor prefixes, they say.</p>
