The MultilingualWeb-LT Working Group has published the First Public Working Draft of Metadata for the Multilingual Web - Usage Scenarios and Implementations. This document introduces a variety of usage scenarios and applications for the Internationalization Tag Set (ITS) 2.0, ranging from simple machine translation or human translation quality check to training for machine translation systems or automatic text analysis. Many of the underlying implementations will be showcased in the upcoming W3C MultilingualWeb Workshop 12-13 March in Rome. Learn more about the Internationalization Activity.

The Linked Data Platform (LDP) Working Group has published a Working Draft of Linked Data Platform 1.0. This document specifies a set of best practices and simple approach for a read-write Linked Data architecture, based on HTTP access to web resources that describe their state using the RDF data model. The System Applications Working Group has published the First Public Working Draft of Contacts Manager API. This specification defines a System Level API which offers a simple interface to manage user's contacts stored in the system's address book. A typical use case of the Contacts API is the implementation of an application to manage said address book. Learn more about the Ubiquitous Web Applications Activity.

Due to the campus closure on March 6, the UMBC Bookstore Graduation Center will be extended through Wednesday, March 13 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Graduating students may order regalia, diploma frames, steins, and announcements by March 13 and avoid paying a late fee.  Rings may be ordered during the make-up day (11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 13). The 10% discount on diploma frames ordered in the store has also been extended.

Students may also place their orders online. Note that late fee forgiveness may not apply online after a certain time.
