Over the last 20 years, Eastern Shore tattoo artist Todd “Noble” Holloway ’92, visual and performing arts, has made a name for himself as a businessman — and a permanent impression on his customers and the tattoo community.

In a recent story on DelmarvaNow.com, the Salisbury native describes a career pathway that lead him to ultimately opening his own tattoo parlor, Right Coast Tattoo in Fenwick Island. As he told DelmarvaNow:

“I didn’t really know the realm of tattooing until I started, but once I really got into, it I found that it’s all-encompassing and from there I focused on how to get better at it and continuously hone my skill,” Holloway said.

“I had no idea you could reach that kind of level of notoriety in tattooing,” he said. “It was never a goal.”

The UMBC BEVI Interns will focus on creating an interactive web site that promotes and explains the benefits of electric vehicles in Maryland. The UMBC students will work with students from 3 other
    colleges to form teams to support the initiative. The UMBC interns will focus on implementing a Wordpress web site to develop a mobile friendly web site and on creating a mobile application to support the BEVI project. 

Applicants should have experience in one of the three
    areas:
    1. web programming or game development and have an interest in mobile application development;
    2. web page design and information architecture of web sites; OR
    3. Digital storytelling, video editing, or writing experience for the web.
    
    Under the internship, students will make $10/hour and are expected to work 25 hours a week for 10 weeks in the summer. The Division of IT is willing to hire any student interested in working on this for an additional 15 hours a week to bring the number of paid hours to 400
    for the summer. Students will work closely with DoIT staff on web-related projects for UMBC.

On Sunday, March 3rd, Dr. Susan Hoban and Laurie Cook were keeping UMBC on the radar of the 110 participants of the Maryland Out of School Time (MOST) Annual Conference held in Annapolis, MD.  Hoban gave an invited talk on choosing engineering as a career path, Cook offered a one-hour workshop on the NASA's BEST Students curriculum.  

Hoban and Cook, accompanied by two other colleagues, won the 90-minute long STEM Trivia contest held at the end of the conference.
