    <div class="html-content">BALTIMORE- UMBC battled No. 16 Towson evenly through 43 minutes, but the visiting Tigers went on a late 5-1 run and defeated the Retrievers, 11-8, at UMBC Stadium. UMBC (2-1) dropped its first decision of the season, while the Tigers (1-2) won for the first time after losses to nationally-ranked North Carolina and Georgetown. Senior midfielder Kristen Bilney led the Retrievers with three goals, while junior midfielder Shannon Harkey and freshman Sam Nolan scored two goals apiece.</div>

    <div class="html-content">There are FOUR remaining general body meetings scheduled for the remainder of the Spring 2013 semester.  The dates of these meetings are listed below.<br><br>Note: All GBMs take place during free hour (12:00-1:00PM) on Mondays.  Unless otherwise noted, meetings will take place in Engineering building's floor level lecture hall: ENG027.<br><br><strong>MARCH 11th<br><br>APRIL 8th - ITE 102<br><br>APRIL 22nd<br><br>MAY 6th</strong> - ITE 102<br><br>Free pizza lunch will be sponsored for select meetings.  Also, ASME 
    leadership is keeping track of meeting attendance for awarding purposes 
    (ASME regalia tassels at graduation).<br><br>Please add ASME to your list of groups in order to receive email reminders before each of these meetings.  <br><br>Remember, though we cater to Mechanical Engineers, ASME is making a special effort towards interdisciplinary cooperation.  Even if you aren't a Mechanical Engineering major, please join us to learn about our research opportunities, cooperation with other STEM organizations of which you may be a member, and news in job prospects for Mechanical Engineers after they graduate from UMBC.<br>

<Title>James Grubb, History, Receives USM Regents&#8217; Faculty Award for Teaching</Title>

    <p>James Grubb, professor of history, is the recipient of a 2013 USM Regents’ Faculty Award for Teaching.</p>
    <p>Regents’ Faculty Awards publicly recognize distinguished performance on the part of faculty members. This award is the highest honor presented by the Board of Regents to exemplary faculty members. The awardees are selected by the Council of University System Faculty and submitted to the Board of Regents for approval.</p>
    <p>Teaching awards are given to faculty who have have demonstrated accomplishments in areas such as course development and pedagogy, faculty development, mentorship of faculty, direction of student research projects, and leadership in teaching improvement.</p>
    <p>Previously, Grubb was selected as the Li<a href="http://www.umbc.edu/window/lipitz.html" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">pitz Professor of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences</a> for the 2010-2011 academic year. Watch Grubb give the annual Lipitz Lecture below.</p>

<Title>Jessica Pfeifer, Philosophy, Selected for Leadership Role in PSA</Title>

    <p><a href="/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/pfeifer.jpg" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><img alt="pfeifer" src="/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/pfeifer.jpg?w=130" width="130" height="150" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></a>Jessica Pfeifer, associate professor of philosophy, has been selected as the Executive Secretary and Treasurer of the <a href="http://www.philsci.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Philosophy of Science Association</a> (PSA).</p>
    <p>The mission of the PSA is to promote research, teaching, and discussion of issues within the philosophy of science from diverse viewpoints. Pfeifer is interested particularly in improving the PSA’s institutional memory, facilitating the mentoring of philosophers of science at the start of their careers, and making the scientific community and the general public aware of the philosophy of science and its value in public discourse.</p>
    <p>Pfeifer has published papers in a range of topics in philosophy of science, and co-edited, with Sahotra Sarkar, <em>The Philosophy of Science: An Encyclopedia, Vols. 1 &amp; 2</em> (Routledge, 2006). She has already assumed several of the jobs of the PSA Executive Secretary and Treasurer, and will soon assume all the duties of the position.</p>
