Reminder- Adding New Suppliers
Procurement has rolled out a new form to enter suppliers. 
In an effort to reduce returned supplier forms the following has changed: 
  • The correct up to date government form (W8-BEN, W8-BEN-E, or W9) is pre-loaded and suppliers no longer need to source their own forms. 
  • Mandatory fields on the government forms so that the necessary fields are no longer skipped by the supplier. 
  • Instructions for the supplier on how to fill out the form. 
Make sure you are only adding suppliers though the link in Paw. The link can be found under the section "Quick Links" on the homepage of Paw.

Join our John Smartt Summer Scholars Program.


We are pleased to open applications for our virtual internship program, John Smartt Summer Scholars. The program provides interested graduate students (masters and doctoral) with the opportunity to gain professional experience, network with scholars in the field of higher education, and learn essential research and programming skills related to equity and leadership in higher education.



The JSSS program is named in honor of CMSI longtime supporter John Smartt, and seeks to recruit ambitious individuals who demonstrate an interest in learning more about Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). The internship, centered on the scholarship and programs of CMSI, includes financial compensation and will offer selected interns practical research skills and programmatic skills that will help them as they move forward in their careers.



Interns will receive generous benefits including a $2,000 stipend, faculty mentoring, opportunities to gain research and professional experience, and an invitation to attend ELEVATE, a multi-day professional development workshop for early career, tenure-track faculty at MSIs.

This year's John Smartt Summer Scholars Program will be held virtually from Monday, June 2 -Friday, July 11, 2025.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the online application by March 11, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Selected interns will be announced by email in April 2025.

ELIGIBILITY DETAILS

Must be a master’s student in any discipline

Must be interested in conducting research or practice related to Minority Serving Institutions

Must be available to work 19.5 hours a week during the duration of the program

Selection Announcement: April 2022

Program Dates: June 2, 2025 - June 11, 2025

The CBIC is almost here! The submission form for the annual Cangialosi Business Innovation Competition is now live!

The CBIC is designed for students who are serious about starting a business or social impact venture. Students selected to go to the final competition will be paired with mentors to flesh out their business idea. This year, the ABCEI will offer 2 tracks: the Technology & Innovation Track and Social Impact Track. Winners in each track can win up to $4,000 with an opportunity to win an additional $2,000 after a 6 month progress review.

Here are the important dates to remember:
       - Deadline for submissions NEXT WEEK: March 3 at 1pm
       - Final Event: April 17 from 6:30 - 8:30pm at bwTECH South

Challenge Name: Panic! At the Kernel

Yes, it happened again. As I'm sure you're already aware, our company was hit with another ransomware attack. Phishing emails, am I right? Well, we paid the ransom (against my better judgment), and everything was supposed to be fine. But Jenkins decided to be "funny" instead of keeping things professional. He thought it would be hilarious to heckle the ransomware operators. 

Turns out, they value their pride almost as much as they value my money, and they activated the ransomware’s self-destruct mechanism. Click, click, boom. Simulated kernel panic. They nuked our critical server into a death spiral of failed reboots. Three times it tried to recover, and three times it crashed again. Now it’s completely stuck, and the poor thing was only up 36 maybe 37 hours. 

Fortunately, the ransomware’s seppuku signal uses a toggle mechanism. The same key that brought it down should be able to bring it back up. It’s in the kernel panic syslogs somewhere. Find it, yea? 

You deal with that and I'll deal with Jenkins.
