“With the Iowa caucuses less than three weeks away, the narrowed Republican presidential contest between Romney, Newt Gingrich, and the surging Ron Paul remains a muddle,” writes UMBC political science professor Thomas Schaller in Salon.com. This landscape has led Romney to focus on a new strategy to win the GOP presidential nomination: surviving a tough fight in January to win more favorable states in February. Schaller argues that the crucial step for Romney is to attack Gingrich “using a negative television and radio blitz on the issue of Medicare to win Florida’s pivotal seniors.” He suggests, “If Romney can pair …

As the semester comes to a close I am sure you have many highlights from this semester and we would love for you to share them and let everyone see how you enjoyed your Fall Semester!

I've had plenty of highlights this semester and one of the biggest was having the opportunity to come to work everyday and help make a difference in someones life through the work I do in The Commons and Office of Student Life. Another big semester highlight was the #ShannonBookerDoesStuff hash tag that SEB first started during Involvement Fest and carried on throughout the semester. If you missed it, what happen was SEB tweeted "If you see Shannon Booker doing something take a picture of him and tweet it using the hash tag #ShannonBookerDoesStuff. The responses they received were hilarious and some people didn't even take pictures that just tweeted whatever I was doing at the time they saw me, some co workers even joined along in the hash tag.The funniest moments was, during an event I introduced my self to a student and their response was "hey your the Shannon Booker does stuff guy" and I laughed and said, yup that's me. A very memorable highlight of this semester was when I was passing Dr. Hrabowski on the stairway I spoke to him and his response was "How are you doing Shannon..." and I was in shock because I know he interacts with people worldwide on a daily and for him to personally acknowledge me and the work that I do really made me feel good! Enough about me lets hear your semester highlights!

Follow Us on Twitter @UMBCEvents

Like Us on FaceBook UMBC Events
