Spring semester is quickly approaching and the donation window for Save-a-Swipe has opened! Save-a-Swipe is a program that supports UMBC students who are facing financial hardship and experiencing food insecurity.

If you have excess meal swipes in your meal plan, please consider donating to the Save-a-Swipe pool so your extra meals can be distributed to students in need. Each donated swipe will directly contribute to providing one "meal" to students in need.

Participating students will receive a stipend of $1,000/week for eight weeks and will have their housing, meals, and travel expenses paid. This is an amazing opportunity for students to immerse themselves in applied math, computational science, and/or data science research while simultaneously participating in professional development and community-building activities designed to foster a strong sense of belonging.

Note that while all projects will have an applied math and/or computational science approach, students do not need to have an applied math background to apply. Projects appropriate for students at all undergraduate levels will be available, and prior research experience is not required.


Applications are due February 7 and supporting letters of recommendation are due February 12.

Can you help us by meeting with candidates and answering questions related to gender equity and working on campus? These are short 30 minute meetings, and they can be done in person or virtually. 1. An assistant professor search in GWST: 2/17 between 9:30-10:30 or between 4-5.
