Dear Campus Community and Valued Riders,
We’re excited to announce a new feature designed to enhance your transit experience and support our commitment to being Safe, Reliable, and Responsive. Our latest SMS and Voice notification service now provides estimated bus arrival times at specific bus stops in real time!
Here’s how it works:

Text or Call the four-digit stop code displayed on the bus stop sign to 443.455.9900.
- You’ll receive a message or voice notification with the estimated arrival time for the next bus at that stop.
This service lets you better plan your commute and stay informed about your bus arrival time, helping you make the most of your day.

Happy January! We've got a bit more break before the semester begins, let's finish this month strong :)
Just as the snow has lingered on the ground these couple weeks after falling, linger on the prompt for a while. We'll meet again soon in February, in only a few weeks! Hope to see you there. We have figured out a time for our weekly meetings, and they will be Thursdays from 4-5pm (starting, likely, 2/6). We will also try to host more online and workshopping events alongside these free-writing sessions since we know this time is limiting for some of you--in other words, we're making sure it's easy to stay involved in the club!
But before then, a final prompt for the break:
- Nature is normally contrasted against humans, but are we separate from the natural world or within it? Explain or explore your view through your stories.

2024 Gartner Hype Cycle for AI
In November 2024, the Gartner company published instances of its popular hype cycles on AI in general and the narrower topic of generative AI. While generative AI is still a dominating technology, Gartner identifies AI engineering and knowledge graphs as the two biggest movers in their 2024 AI Hype Cycle. AI Engineering was placed at the “peak of inflated expectations”, and knowledge graphs on the cycle’s “slope of enlightenment”.
Gartner defines AI engineering as
"AI engineering unites various disciplines from across the organization to tame the AI hype while providing a clearer path to value when operationalizing the combination of multiple AI techniques (including GenAI models). It also includes responsible AI, dealing with risk, trust, transparency, ethics, fairness, and accountability."
and knowledge graphs as
"Knowledge graphs are machine-readable representations of the physical and digital worlds. They capture information in a visually intuitive format, yet are still able to represent complex relationships. More importantly, they provide dependable logic and explainable reasoning (as opposed to GenAI’s fallible but powerful predictive capabilities)."

Mental Health America - Youth Policy Accelerator

In 2023, we launched our first-ever Youth Policy Accelerator (YPA). The YPA is a youth leadership program that equips 10 outstanding young adults (18-25) with the skills, relationships, and experience to advance federal youth peer support policy.
Our inaugural YPA cohort helped shape mental health policy by conducting original research, meeting with policymakers, launching a national youth peer support policy coalition, and speaking on panels, at events, and town halls.
After the 2024 program, we took our learnings to make the YPA even better. Now, we’re excited to launch this year’s YPA applications!
The all-virtual YPA will take place from April 2025 - December 2025. In addition to receiving a $3,000 stipend, YPA members will:

Learn and apply skills: Gain valuable experience working on mental health policy, research, and communications. This includes public speaking, agenda setting, policy research, coalition leadership, and campaign creation.

Influence federal policy and advance youth peer support: Collaborate to develop policy priorities and strategy and meet directly with policymakers and advocates.
-
Grow their network: Build relationships with their cohort, policy experts, and MHA’s youth leaders network of over 150 program graduates with ongoing training and leadership opportunities.
