About Sophia:
I am a new assistant professor in the department of psychology. I completed my PhD in applied psychology from NYU and postdoctoral fellowship in social work from UC Berkeley. Broadly, my research interests are interdisciplinary and lie at the intersection of psychology, education, and human development. I work with community stakeholders to conduct research that aims to improve academic, social, and emotional outcomes for youth of color and school-based learning environments using both quantitative and qualitative methods. I relocated here from New York City with my husband and live nearby UMBC. Our weekends are spent exploring nearby hiking trails and all of the various supermarkets - currently we are on the quest to find the best baguette in the area. Looking forward to connecting with others in the UMBC community!
