Recruiting McNair Scholars! Application deadline: Dec 15th, 2024! 

Are there any students you encountered that would be good candidates for the UMBC McNair Scholars Program?  We would appreciate your assistance with informing students of all the great opportunities the McNair Scholars Program offers. Our program focuses on preparing undergraduate students (who qualify as either low-income and first-generation college students or members of groups underrepresented in graduate education) to pursue doctoral degrees. 

The program offers several benefits, such as summer and academic year research funding, assistance connecting with faculty research mentors, hands-on guidance and navigation through the graduate school application process, first-hand exposure to individuals who have earned Ph.D. s in their field of study, and opportunity to attend research conferences (fully funded). 

Please disseminate this information to faculty, staff, and students in your department who may be interested. A link to our program’s web page with all pertinent information can be found here. They may also sign up now on the Interest Form to receive updates. The application deadline is December 15, 2024, 4:59:59 pm. 

Become a McNair Mentor or Faculty Research Mentor 

We invite UMBC faculty and staff to mentor one of our McNair Scholars. There are two options: McNair Mentor and McNair Research Mentor. For details, please read the Mentor Informational for McNair Scholars Program. Open to UMBC faculty and staff with a graduate degree or work closely with graduate programs.
