Romans 8:9-11 (NIV)
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives lifebecause of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because ofhis Spirit who lives in you.
Reflection:
As those who have been saved, our identity is now marked by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. We now live in and by the Spirit. What’s even greater is that the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is living in us! This reality changes everything for us. We are no longer controlled by our old sinful nature. We are no longer controlled by the things that bring spiritual death. We are set apart to be the people where God’s Spirit dwells, an “alternative” temple, where others can come and experience the Holy Spirit.
Response:
Let’s take some time receiving this reality for our lives once again. Let’s pray that God would increase the activity of His Spirit in and through our missional groups and campus fellowships. Let’s pray that as He does so, others would receive life in the Spirit through our ministry.
