What is Liberation?: Socialist Feminisms in Baltimore 1968-1988
The Albin O. Kuhn Library Rotunda exhibit What is Liberation? brings together ephemera collected from a wide range of feminist activities occurring in Baltimore between 1968 and 1988. The exhibition borrows its title from the second issue of Women: A Journal of Liberation, a socialist feminist publication founded in Baltimore in 1968. Materials on display are drawn from Collection 334: Women’s Movement in Baltimore Collection and the Alternative Press Center Collection, both available in the Special Collections department. Comprising five cases, exhibit themes include: Local Action & National Conversation, Prioritizing Process, Poetry and Publishing, Labor, and Gathering Together & Finding Yourself.
What is Liberation?: Socialist Feminisms in Baltimore 1968-1988 will be on display in the Albin O. Kuhn Library Rotunda from November 3 - 30. It is curated by Morgan Dowty, Program Management Specialist in the UMBC Department of American Studies and HiLS Candidate at University of Maryland College Park.
