Hello there, fellow BioCom Members!!
We hope your semester is going good and you are working hard while waiting for the Spring break :)
We've got some exciting news, right before the Spring Break Dr. Mercedes Burns is hosting an in-person lab tour on Monday, March 14th from 3.30- 4.30 pm.
The tour will start at 3.30 and last about 30 min, after which Dr. Burns will be giving a presentation, as a part of the BioCom General Body Meeting.
Dr. Burns is an evolutionary ecologist, studying (among other things) the mechanisms of animal sexual conflict and mating patterns. Her research primarily uses arachnids, better known as 'Daddy-Longlegs." The lab utilizes such techniques as next-generation genomic sequencing, functional morphology, bioinformatics, and cytological methods.
