UMBC for Ferguson: A Social Justice Forum
A public forum and open discussion
Thursday, December 4, 2014 · 7 - 9 PM
The UMBC community is invited to join UMBC for Ferguson in a public forum and open discussion. This event is supported by The Campus Democrats, UMBC TheatreCOM, Musical Theatre Club and the Acid Flashbacks.
For this event, we will be hosting speeches, readings from articles, poems, songs and theatre pieces, all with the goals of:
1) clearly outlining and reflecting upon what's happening in regard to the Michael Brown case, police brutality, and racialized injustices of all kinds-- in hope of building community knowledge, helping to create stronger and better informed allies of all races, and creating more positive and powerful conversations with our friends, family and neighbors,
and
2) representing and creating political, personal, cultural and volunteer-based opportunities to help make a positive impact on race relations in our country-- from our minor to our major challenges.
This event will be moderated. If you are interested in sharing, please email Vanessa Barksdale at vanbark1@umbc.edu or Dan Roeder at droeder1@umbc.edu.
