Moon and Myth
Works by Susan Botti, and a world premiere of Mangetsu
The UMBC Music Department presents Moon and Myth, a concert of contemporary vocal chamber music by composer/soprano, Susan Botti. Renowned musicians Airi Yoshioka (violin), James Wilson (cello), and Carsten Schmidt (piano) join Botti in 2 works from her Gates of Silence, featuring the poetry of Linda Gregerson (special UMBC guest in residence). A world premiere of a new work for voice and violin commissioned by Yoshioka/UMBB will also be on the program. Among Botti’s awards are a Guggenheim, and The Rome Prize; and her commissions include works for The New York Philharmonic, The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and The Cleveland Orchestra.
