Works by Susan Botti, including a world premiere of Mangetsu
The UMBC Music Department presents Moon and Myth, a concert of contemporary vocal chamber music by composer/ soprano, Susan Botti. Renowned musicians Airi Yoshioka (violin), James Wilson (cello), and Carsten Schmidt (piano) join Botti in her work Dido Refuses to Speak, featuring the poetry of Linda Gregerson (special UMBC Writer-in-Residence).
A world premiere of a new work for voice and violin commissioned by Yoshioka/UMBC will also be on the program. Among Botti’s accomplishments are commissions for the New York Philharmonic, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra; awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship and The Rome Prize.
