This position is a part of the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Inspector General (OIG), Deputy Inspector General for Audit. As a Student Trainee (Financial Clerk), you will be responsible for assisting teams that perform audits of DoD finance and accounting systems, or that conduct performance audits of functions and activities used to carry out DoD responsibilities.

Applicants must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.95.
Applicants must have earned, or will have earned by their date of hire, at least 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours in accounting, auditing, finance, or business law courses, and must be pursuing a degree or certification in accounting or a related field, such as business administration, finance, or public administration. In addition, upon completion of the degree or certification currently being pursued, applicants must have earned 24 semester hours in accounting courses (6 of the semester hours may be earned in business law courses) to be considered for conversion.

Conversion: Interns may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent or term (time-limited) position within 120 days of successful completion of the program. To be eligible for conversion, interns must: complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program; complete their degree or certificate requirements; meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted, which includes completion of 24 semester hours in accounting, 6 of which may be in business law; meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Pathways Participant Agreement; and perform their job successfully. Time spent under previous Internship Program appointments may count towards required work experience hours. Once noncompetitively converted, the position has a full performance level of GS-13.
